TBT – Jubilee

It’s Thursday time for another throwback and I don’t even know how long ago this paper pack has been in my stash, but I will tell you – it must have been a favorite because it was barely used.

I paired the Jubilee paper with a large flower from the Girls Rock stamp set (also retired) for a fun birthday card.  I thought the Blue Burlap ribbon would be a fun accent to this very country themed card.

I wasn’t able to completely bust this stash of paper, but it’s fresh in my memory and will probably get used for some scrapbook pages soon!

A Million Feelings – Color Dare #301

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Poppy, Lemon & Willow

Today my card features one of my favorite B&T papers from the Central Park collection.  The Willow paper just reminds me of a yard full of grass…it’s funny the feelings a paper can conjure up don’t you think!

There are two things about this card that I really thought I needed to share:

  1.   Although I started with a pattern from MIFYH (Make It From Your Heart) Vol 4, I’ve only used it as a starting point.  My sentiment square size was changed to fit my sentiment and I added a piece of Zip Strip across the bottom and then a circle with a second sentiment.  The Make It From Your Heart patterns can be used again and again either just as they are or as a jumping off point for your own creation.  People tell me time and time again that I can whip up a card in no time at all, by using these How To Books I put my card making into high gear.
  2. Let me call attention to that sentiment square again.  The Quotable Words (D1786) stamp set is sold as a scrapbook stamp set and sometimes I think card makers see “scrapbook” and turn their nose up – card makers are an elite group after-all 😉  Unfortunately I think you miss out a bit that way…a stamp is a stamp is a stamp!  It is in YOUR power to use them in any old way you want – don’t let a company paint you into a corner just because it says “scrapbook” or is in the scrapbook section of a catalog.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.

Double Trouble #4.5

Well, here we are half way through our Double Trouble Challenge #4.  You can find all the details for this challenge here.

Since we are linked up with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge which is a weekly challenge I am choosing to share my second weeks card now.

Isn’t this a great sketch?  I grabbed papers from the Fresh Air packet and inked up a pair of Cowboy Boots for a masculine birthday card.  I always thought there were more girls in our family, but lately there has been a run on “boy” cards.

I hope you’ll take some time to play along with both the Double Trouble Challenge #4 and the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I appreciate you stopping by.  Take a minute and let me know what you think about our new challenge.

A Sunny Birthday

Do you ever wonder what to do with this sheet of paper that comes in your Close to My Heart Paper Packets?

This sheet from the Central Park paper packet is full of bright colors perfect for the popular pocket scrapbooking, but shouldn’t be overlooked for a card.

I added a zip-strip and cut a scallop from the Central Park paper packet along with a little arrow from the July Stamp of the Month that I stamped in Willow.  I dug through my stamps until I could find a Happy Birthday sentiment that would fit.  I added some sequins and then bitty sparkles to bling it up just a bit.  I’ll be delivering some sunshine to a mailbox with this card for sure!

A Woodsy Birthday – Color Dare #299

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  It’s my favorite color challenge of the month – Tic Tac Toe!  All such marvelous colors and I chose to take the diagonal starting in the upper left:  Juniper, New England Ivy & Glacier.

No automatic alt text available.

I started with a Glacier base card  which I scored along the top and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in New England Ivy.  The papers from the Fresh Air collection adorn the bottom of the card and I finished it with a wood tree and lots of sparkles.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my creations throughout the month…I’d love to see what you’d create with these colors so please come play along.

Double Trouble #3

Happy Monday are you ready for some trouble?  Double Trouble that is!  I hope you’ve enjoyed our first two challenges and are ready to play again.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 convinced me that we should take a trip to the Beauty Parlor, “trust us” they said.  We each got a new hair-do and challenge you to make a project using the hues.  I’m adding a twist challenging you to use a “string thing” – ribbon, hemp, twine, etc.

Thing 2 is daring you to link up to the Color My Heart Color Dare #297, using Glacier, Sorbet & Nutmeg.  Please let us know if you’ve linked up to all three challenges.  We’re looking forward to seeing what you create.

My card started using my wood-grain embossing folder inked with Nutmeg ink on a piece of Glacier cardstock – then layering the elk which was stamped in Nutmeg onto a piece of Sorbet Cardstock.  I tied a piece of burlap ribbon and added a couple of bronze sequins to finish it off.  A masculine birthday card all ready to go in the mail!

I hope you’ll take some time to come play along with us at Double Trouble – remember our Twist and Thing 2 challenges are always optional.  Thanks for taking some time out of your day to visit my blog.  Let me know what you think of the new challenges, by leaving a comment on this post.

Create the Rainbow

After the rain comes the rainbow and Close to My Heart makes the best rainbows ever!  During the month of June you can get 25% off custom card-stock bundles, individual spools of ribbon and select accessories!  There’s even an exclusive stamp set available.

I’ve taken the Rainbow Cardstock Bundle (Cranberry, Tangerine, Lemon, Willow, Pacifica & Pansy) and paired it with the new It’s Your Day Thin Cuts Die.  It makes for a very festive birthday card with hardly any work and that’s the best kind of card as far as I’m concerned.

You can find all the details here, but remember the sale prices are only available while supplies last during the month of June.

I’m linking my card to the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge to use Die Cuts.
