A Million Feelings – Color Dare #301

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Poppy, Lemon & Willow

Today my card features one of my favorite B&T papers from the Central Park collection.  The Willow paper just reminds me of a yard full of grass…it’s funny the feelings a paper can conjure up don’t you think!

There are two things about this card that I really thought I needed to share:

  1.   Although I started with a pattern from MIFYH (Make It From Your Heart) Vol 4, I’ve only used it as a starting point.  My sentiment square size was changed to fit my sentiment and I added a piece of Zip Strip across the bottom and then a circle with a second sentiment.  The Make It From Your Heart patterns can be used again and again either just as they are or as a jumping off point for your own creation.  People tell me time and time again that I can whip up a card in no time at all, by using these How To Books I put my card making into high gear.
  2. Let me call attention to that sentiment square again.  The Quotable Words (D1786) stamp set is sold as a scrapbook stamp set and sometimes I think card makers see “scrapbook” and turn their nose up – card makers are an elite group after-all 😉  Unfortunately I think you miss out a bit that way…a stamp is a stamp is a stamp!  It is in YOUR power to use them in any old way you want – don’t let a company paint you into a corner just because it says “scrapbook” or is in the scrapbook section of a catalog.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.

Cheers to You – Color Dare #300

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Bashful, Mink & Pacifica.

I had fun with this color combination.  I used both the light side of the Mink cardstock to create a base card and a strip of the regular Mink is right above the Sapphire Fundamentals B&T.  Couldn’t those roses pass as clouds for my balloon?  The stamp set is from the Cheers to You Cardmaking Kit and I followed the pattern making a few changes.  Can you tell me what they are (other than the papers)?

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

A Woodsy Birthday – Color Dare #299

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  It’s my favorite color challenge of the month – Tic Tac Toe!  All such marvelous colors and I chose to take the diagonal starting in the upper left:  Juniper, New England Ivy & Glacier.

No automatic alt text available.

I started with a Glacier base card  which I scored along the top and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in New England Ivy.  The papers from the Fresh Air collection adorn the bottom of the card and I finished it with a wood tree and lots of sparkles.

Just For You – Color Dare #298

TGIF!!!  I’ve been crazy busy in the Craft Coop – convention is NEXT WEEK, but I am happy to report that I’m all ready thanks to my friend and fellow DT member Debi!

The Design Team is playing with the colors Blossom, Linen & New England Ivy this week – such a fun summery combination.  Linen is actually one of my favorite new neutrals – it’s a creamy white and I just love it’s rich tone.

That cute Just for You stamp is from the Stamped With Love stamp set – a cute A sized stamp set with images for the front & back of your cards.

Now it’s your turn to grab your ink and papers and make a project.  You’ll find the rules for the Color My Heart Color Dare here.  Although we list the color names from Close to My Heart they are not required to play along.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hop you find lots of stamping time this summer and will come play along.

Double Trouble #3

Happy Monday are you ready for some trouble?  Double Trouble that is!  I hope you’ve enjoyed our first two challenges and are ready to play again.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 convinced me that we should take a trip to the Beauty Parlor, “trust us” they said.  We each got a new hair-do and challenge you to make a project using the hues.  I’m adding a twist challenging you to use a “string thing” – ribbon, hemp, twine, etc.

Thing 2 is daring you to link up to the Color My Heart Color Dare #297, using Glacier, Sorbet & Nutmeg.  Please let us know if you’ve linked up to all three challenges.  We’re looking forward to seeing what you create.

My card started using my wood-grain embossing folder inked with Nutmeg ink on a piece of Glacier cardstock – then layering the elk which was stamped in Nutmeg onto a piece of Sorbet Cardstock.  I tied a piece of burlap ribbon and added a couple of bronze sequins to finish it off.  A masculine birthday card all ready to go in the mail!

I hope you’ll take some time to come play along with us at Double Trouble – remember our Twist and Thing 2 challenges are always optional.  Thanks for taking some time out of your day to visit my blog.  Let me know what you think of the new challenges, by leaving a comment on this post.

Go Where You Dare – Color Dare #297

Happy Friday!  Time for another Color My Heart Color Dare.  If you haven’t had a chance to play with the Color My Heart Color Dare before this might be a good week to start the colors the Design Team has picked is AMAZING!!!  Glacier, Nutmeg & Sorbet it just works so well together.

Were you expecting some pretty flowers cut from the You are Here Cricut collection?  I tried keeping things really simple with the focus on the sentiment panel.  The Glacier ribbon has a gold thread in the middle so I added a few Gold Glitter Gems to tie everything together.

Now it’s YOUR turn…grab your ink and papers and come join us this week.  You will find all the rules for the Color Dare here.  Although we list the Close to My Heart Colors they are not required for you to play along.

Kindness – Color Dare #296

Already one week into June…time needs to S-L-O-W down!

This week the Color My Heart Color Dare Design Team is featuring the colors Toffee, Juniper and Pomegranate.  Such pretty colors to work with.

I’m trying to build my stash of thank you and birthday cards, but it seems like it’s a never ending battle!  Like I said last week I really like the In My Heart card making kit sentiments so here I am again with a different layout.  The wood panel at the bottom of the card might be a far stretch at Toffee, but I just had to use it.  I also stamped the small THANKS banner in Toffee and cut it out and layered it over a piece of wood-grain banner which I stamped in Juniper and then trimmed.  I tied a little bit of Juniper Thick Twine into a knot and frayed the ends to add some dimension.
