Double, Double, Toil & Trouble Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble!
Can you believe Halloween is just around the corner…I seriously wonder where this year has gone…ok, seriously the last two weeks because it’s already time for another Double Trouble posting! I’m late and I’m going to be in more trouble than I already am!!!
I think Halloween is one of my favorite holidays…we have a large pumpkin carving party and I love to decorate for fall. I tend to like the cute things about Halloween and not the scary so I was thrilled when Trouble Maker challenged us to “Skip the Tricks and Share the Treats of Halloween” Share the cute and cheerful side of Halloween or Fall with cute pumpkins, witches & ghosts.
As usual…my partners have “Framed Me” and I need your help! My optional twist is that you include a frame somewhere on your card to help me get out of “trouble”.
Finally…Double Dare has asked up to link up to the Paper Girls Challenge – I hope no one goes cutting them apart – they seem like a nice group of crafters!!!
Well, now all that is out of the way…would you like to see what I’ve been up to?
That’s right, it’s a spooky cute Halloween Card. I started with a Nectarine Base and then added a B&T from the Hello Pumpkin paper packet – I layers on some Willow and Lagoon onto which I had stamped a fence – over the fence I layered a black frame which although you can’t see it well in the picture I painted with my new black shimmer pen! I then layered my sentiment over the top of that. I knew I wanted to include the ghost because the faces of the B&T paper reminded me of a scene in a Casper cartoon where you could only see the faces of the ghosts. Although most ghosts are typically white I stamped mine in Mint and colored it with the clear shimmer brush which has given it the look of being “glow in the dark”
I hope you’ve enjoyed my take on “cute” Halloween and that you’ll pop over to our design page and link up a project…and don’t forget to add a frame!!!
Welcome to Double Trouble‘s first Double Digit Challenge – that would be challenge #10!!! This week Trouble Maker is challenging you to use at least three colors with a stamped or digital image. Twisted Sister is asking you to use a critter and add a punny saying with your image, finally Double Dare is asking us to link with the Brown Sugar Challenge #282 using a critter.
The entire time I was creating I was humming this verse from a song I grew up singing in the United Methodist Church. It’s been a number of years since I’ve been in church, but I guess some things just stick.
“All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
the Lord God made them all.”
My first inclination was to reach for the retired Operation Smile Punny Pals stamp set and then I thought no that would be to easy, so instead I reached for the long ago retired Safari Ballet stamp set. Ballet and roses just seem to go together so I grabbed some of my last scraps of the retired fundamentals paper and the new Love of Color Book for a combination – Lagoon, Sapphire and Canary. I dressed my ballerina head to toe in Canary yellow (or as close as I could get with my Copic Markers). I want to let you in on a little secret – that skinny yellow strip of cardstock was cut with the Ribbon Thin Cut from CTMH and I just layered my circle of the bow part. To finish off my card I stamped my “punny saying” with Sapphire Ink onto the Lagoon B&T and added a few sparkles.
Now won’t you head over to our Double Trouble Design Page and see what Thing 1 and Thing 2 have created. While you are there you’ll find all the rules to link up to our challenge. If you find you still need a little help – we can get you started, Thing 1 although a Trouble Maker is a real whiz with the computer!
I’m popping in today with a reminder of Double Trouble’s Challenge using a School Days Theme while teaming up with the sketch provided by Try Stamping on Tuesday, if you include a bookmark on your card you get extra points with Twisted Sister and will stay out of detention!
Here’s the Sketch we had to use:
I borrowed both the You’ve Got Class and School Kids stamp sets from my friend Debi…I love both of these stamp sets! They are available for just a few more days as the You’ve Got Class special ends at the end of September. You can find all the details here.
I rotated the sketch (nothing says you can’t do that) and stamped a strip of Willow with the ABC stamp and the Lemon was stamped with the ruler. Everything was built on a base of cranberry (retired) which I stamped my “Back to School” sentiment. The little girl was stamped and colored with Copic Markers, die cut and I added a mini-clothes pin and attached it to the string…she also is my bookmark!
I hope you’ll give both of these fun challenges a spin…I’d love to see what you come up with.
“School days, school days
Dear old Golden Rule days
‘Reading and ‘riting and ‘rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hick’ry stick”
It’s September, mom’s & dad’s everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief…school has started! It also means that over at the Double Trouble Papercrafting Challenge we’ve got a School Days Challenge happening! Twisted Sister (that’s me if you haven’t figured it out yet) challenges you to include a bookmark with your project and the final challenge issued by Thing 2 is to link up with this fantastic sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday!
I kind of new what I wanted to do – even borrowed my friend Debi’s stamp sets, but when I sat down at my desk I went a completely different way, but that only means an opportunity to put together another card right?!
I started with a base card cut from Ballerina CS – don’t you love the soft pink? The measurements are 5.5 X 10.5 – scored it at 4.25 and then I used my Tonic Perforator tool at 2 inches from the right side for the bookmark.
I then used papers from the recently released Boutique Paper collection to put together my sketch. I have a niece starting college this year and I wanted to drop her a note to let her know that we were thinking of her and to have a great year.
Don’t you just love this new Close to My Heart Stamp Set – My Type of Note. I think I learned to bang out letters on a typewriter that looked really similar.
I hope you’ll consider popping over to the Double Trouble Papercrafting Challenge…my teammates and I have a really fun time with this blog challenge and it would be fun to see your artwork linked up…you even get a chance to win a “bag of things” and I promise it’s not Thing 1, Thing 2 or Twisted Sister, but some really cool things!
Well, Trouble Maker and Double Dare are in the DOG HOUSE…they FORGOT my BIRTHDAY! I told them it was really ok, that I celebrate for the ENTIRE MONTH and that they could make it up to me with all things that GLITTER!!!
They are trying to make it up to me with a BIRTHDAY PROJECT CHALLENGE! For an additional entry into our random draw, Double Dare suggests you link up to Pause Dream & Enjoy. The optional twist is to add GLITTER all forms to your project.
The Documented paper packet was my favorite from the Seasonal Expressions. I chose to use my favorite papers for my birthday card and included LOTS of glittery accents, Bashful Glitter Paper, Gold Glitter Gems, Bitty Sparkles, Eggplant ribbon with a Gold Stitching and although you can’t see it well in the picture I also used my Gold Shimmer Brush on the vellum leaves under the banner. That might be sparkly enough!!!
So what’s your birthday project going to look like…I hope it will include some glitter. Make sure you come along to play with Double Trouble and let us know when your birthday is.
Summertime is my favorite season – it means sunshine, swimming pools, sweet tea and ice-cream and best of all August is my birthday month!!!
Our Double Trouble Challenge 7 is all about the Dog Days of Summer. Trouble Maker would like to know how you deal with the hottest time of the year. Twisted Sister (that’s me) wants you to stay cool and include your favorite summer beverage or food. Double Dare wants you to link up to the Summer Challenge at HeARTful Stamping Challenge.
I had this cute Penguin in Paradise stamp set from My Favorite Thing Stamps that I wanted to use. I started by random stamping a panel of white cardstock with the drinks, hibiscus and beach balls and then colored them in with Copic Markers. I stamped and colored the penguin, cut him with a Basics Circle Die Cut from Close to My Heart and then popped it up with a spring so it’s all bouncy!
Now it’s your turn…make sure you visit our challenge blog for the instructions on how to link up with us.
I’m just like you…I love to read your comments and I always love it when you answer my questions. So, what is your favorite way to stay cool during the Dog Days of Summer?
Thanks so much for stopping by – I hope you’re having a good time with the Double Trouble Challenges.
Did you hear the news? Trouble Maker’s husband opened the door and found that the REAL Trouble Maker had come for a visit…you can read the rest of the story over on the Double Trouble Challenge Blog! The best part is he brought his two friends.
Once in a while there are 5 Mondays in a month…this throws a real kink in our schedule so we’ve opted for a one week SPECIAL challenge! We’ve titled it SOMETHING, ANYTHING & EVERYTHING! You can find all the details here!
Trouble Maker challenged us to have a little fun this week, Some “Thing”, Any “Thing” and Every “Thing” is welcome in this special ONE WEEK only challenge.
Twisted Sister (that’s me) is challenging you to decorate the inside of your card.
Double Trouble is giving permission to link up with any of our previous challenge partners to earn an extra entry into our prize draw.
My card is a pop-up window card which I saw on Jenifer McGuire Ink. So cool and so simple, too! I’m also sharing at Heart To Heart and their Anything Goes Challenge.
Although I’m head over heals in love with Close to My Heart I also like to find things at other companies that we don’t offer so every once in a while I browse the “shelves” online at My Favorite Things. That’s where the Too-Cute Turtles stamps and die cuts came from.
This is my first go at a video so I hope you’ll leave me a comment and tell me if you’d like to see more.
Thanks so much for stopping by…I hope you’ll come get into some Double Trouble…it really is Double the Fun!!!
