Double Trouble #21

Have you heard the buzz? The Double Trouble Team has paired up with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for the next two weeks. Trouble Maker is tip-toeing thru the Tulip Bulbs…demanding that we give her flowers after this long cold winter. Twisted Sister is all a flutter after signing up for a Birds & Bees Class on Valentines Day and would like you to use something with wings or something “B”-related or the word Buzz or Bzzz on your project.

The Atlantic Hearts Team gave us permission to share both of their upcoming sketches a little early so make sure that you are visiting their page and linking to the correct sketch

For my first card I chose to use a soft color combination of Sugar Plum, Ballerina and Peach for my flowers and Sage leaves all on a Mink Background which I cut using the Thin Cut Decorative Border Die. I added a tiny little bee which I cut from the Cricut Flower Market Cartridge.

My second card is my least favorite to make…a sympathy card! I used a Wreath Builder template and stamped flowers in a circular pattern to form my wreath…I didn’t leave quite enough room to include my sentiment at the bottom, but I actually liked it better layered across the flowers. The Willow layer was embossed with a honeycomb embossing folder for my “BEE” requirement.

Don’t forget that Double Dare has provided you the links to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenges over on our home page with the complete challenge information.

I hope you’ll take some time and join in the fun!

Double Trouble #20

It’s time for more trouble…but this challenge we are reminding you to spread some peace, love and kindness as you create! It’s National Hugging Week – now that’s one that I can get after!

Trouble Maker says Love Is in the Air – create a project using something you’d find in the air – balloons, banners, sunshine, clouds, birds, etc.

Twisted sister says you can’t have love without a little sparkle – her optional challenge is to use some glitter, Nuvo drops, something metalic or anything sparkly & shiny!

My card features a Hot Air Balloon cut from the Cricut that I’ve touched with some Shimmer Brush for a little sparkle. I just happened to have the Hugs For You cardmaking kit stamp set sitting on my desk so guess what sentiment I used, LOL!

Don’t forget that Double Dare says if you meet the Sparkle & Shine elements that you can link your card to the Paper Girls here.

I hope you’ll come and play along…it’s a lot of work to coordinate these challenges and we love seeing your entries!

Double Trouble #19

Oh Mother Dear, I sadly fear that I have lost my mittens…will you help me find them? Are you ready for some more trouble with Double Trouble Challenge #19.

Trouble Maker is challenging us to be Warm & Cozy in this cold month of January! When I think Warm & Cozy I think fuzzy & cuddly like a scarf & mittens or a sweet little kitten. When you include mittens or a kitten on your project Twisted Sister will give you an additional chance in our randow draw.

I created this cute Snowgirl all Warm & Cozy in her mittens, scarf & earmuffs that I colored with my Shin Han markers to match the Background Papers. I added some sparkles to the snow flurry at the bottom of the card and a simple white bow to finish it off!

Double Dare has asked us to link up to Creative With Stamps Challenge “Mittens” Challenge. You get an extra entry in our bag of things if you add this optional challenge.

I hope you’ll come have some fun and join up with our bi-weekly challenges at Double Trouble Papercrafting Challenge.

Double Trouble #18

It’s a Free For All over at the Double Trouble Challenge Blog.  That’s really nothing new, but we celebrate when the calendar has 5 Monday’s in a month.

Trouble Maker is trying to get us to “Shape Up” for the new year and has challenged us to use multiple shapes on our projects – I’ve included a tag  & banner (rectangle) along with a circle.

Did you know that it’s National Bird Week in the USA?  Twisted sister didn’t either, but to give a shout out to her feathered friends she’s asking that you add a bird, a nest, a birdhouse etc to your project.

Finally Double Dare is asking you to pair with one of our previous partners so pick your favorite – go check out their challenge and then combine our challenges for twice as much fun!

I had two choices for birds in my stamping stash – a penguin or a chicken, LOL!  Then when I was going through my die cuts I found a cute birdhouse die that I don’t think I’ve ever used.  My Penguin in Paradise comes from the My Favorite Things Stamp line and I colored with my Copic markers.  That bright blue background is a B&T from the new Something Fierce paper packet from Close to My Heart

I hope you’ll come play with us – Double Trouble is Double the fun!!!

Double Trouble #17

Did you hear the news?  Twisted Sister made the nice list…thank you all for helping.  Now it’s time to bake some cookies for Santa!

Trouble Maker has the perfect recipe to get us started!

Recipe.” This time the recipe can be used for any occasion – birthday, thank you, get well, wedding and even Christmas if you still need that last minute card or tag.

From: The Kitchen of Double Trouble Challenge Blog
Servings: Unlimited fun
Ingredients:
3 – Embellishments
2 – Colors
1 – Sentiment or image (stamped or digital OK)
Directions: You may use more than the recipe ingredients stipulate, but you need to include a required minimum of each ingredient. The ingredients may be included in the image or an add-on. But don’t stop here…you might want to consider special topping ingredients using “Bright and Bold” or “Soft and Pastel
“.

Double Dare is asking you to link up with Color My Heart Color Dare.  Make sure that you are following their rules and using either a Bright & Bold or Soft & Pastel palette!

Twisted Sister is asking you to include something that you’d find or make in the kitchen – remember this is just an optional twist, but it makes Twisted Sister so happy to see you participate that she’s going to pick her favorite card and send you a treat too!

I decided to do a side step card.  I included images from 2 different stamp sets and thought including a rolling pin & measuring cup were a good mix with my Gingerbread cookies.  For embellishments I used silver sequins which I colored with my Shin Han marker, sparkles and tassels that I made from clover and pixie CS and the new Fancy Borders thin cuts.

I hope you’ll want to join the fun at Double Trouble so hopefully you’ll make the nice list too!

Double Trouble #16

It’s time for more trouble over on the Double Trouble Papercrafting Blog.  This time Trouble Maker is requesting we use some form of embossing – heat, dry, embossing paste use one or use them all.  Twisted Sister is getting in the spirit and singing “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow” and is requesting you add a snowflake on your project.  Double Dare is asking you to link up to the winter/holiday themed challenge at Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge.

I selected a soft Christmas palette of Ballerina, Mint, Charcoal & Linen with touches of Gold and a White Glitter Paper Snowflake.  I heat embossed my white snowflakes along the Ballerina cardstock and then added a die cut Snowflake from the Winter Flurries Thin Cuts.

I hope you’ll come join in the fun at Double Trouble for a chance to win one of our bags of things.  I also hope you’ll take a minute to leave me a comment on your favorite Christmas palette.

Double Trouble #15

This week Trouble Maker challenged us to “Eat, Drink & Be Merry!”  I’m not sure what that has to do with the Sweet Treats challenge for Double Trouble #15, but maybe I misunderstood – I was drinking eggnog after-all (hiccup)!

Thank goodness Double Dare found a great mood board at Use Your Stuff Challenge #338 and they were gracious enough to partner up with us on this fun challenge.  What will it inspire you to make?

I was inspired to make Sugar Cookies with Sprinkles on top!

img_2089

My mom and I always baked Christmas cookies together…it was an ALL DAY affair!  Sugar Cookies (although my favorite to eat) were my least favorite to make.  I have a whole bin of her cutters and my grandma’s rolling pin to help me still get the job done.

I used papers from the Oh What Fun paper packet and added a cute little tag with some layered sugar cookies.  I finished it off with lots of Bitty Sparkles and a few big ones too.  If my cookies turn out as pretty as these stamped AND fussy cutted cookies, Santa will be sure to slide down my chimney!

I hope you’ll create something sweet and link up to our blog challenge – it’s really easy and if you have any problems at all Trouble Maker can help you out.   Remember to include lots of “sprinkles on top” so Twisted Sister can get on the nice list. While you’re getting inspired…take a minute and leave me a comment about your favorite sweet memory from Christmas.
