Oh So Different

Card stashes seem to be depleted by the time the end of the year rolls around so I grabbed a couple of stamp sets along with what was left of my Boutique paper packet and went to work.

Once my cards were finished and I lined them up I thought how different each of them looked.  Although they are all from the same paper packet the combination of colors that you use can really change how they look.

What do you keep in your card stash?  I hope you’ll take the time to leave me a comment.

Color Club Exclusive – November

November Color Club members should have fun with this card design featuring the colors Heather and Bashful.

This card design appears in the Joyful Tidings Cardmaking Kit.  I wanted to show how by just changing a few colors and sentiment the card has an entire different feel.

How do you like those Basic Fundamentals background papers?  They are on special this month in our Just for Fun promotion.  Grab the bundle, you’ll save 40% and get papers, ribbon and complements in each of our Fundamental Color Families.

Stronger Together

One of my favorite things about Close to My Heart is their response to disasters.  The Stronger Together stamp set was released in response to the recent hurricanes in the United States and the wildfires in both the United States and Canada.  All proceeds from the sale of this $13.95 stamp set will be donated to the Red Cross.

I love the mixed fonts of these sentiments – they can be used for so many situations and as the name states we truly are Stronger Together!

My card has a panel that has been embossed with the Rose Embossing folder on white daisy cardstock cut just 1/4 inch smaller than the base card, a layer of Black, Bashful and White are layered and then popped up with Thin 3D foam tape.  The ribbon from the Flower Market Cricut Cartridge was cut from Bashful Glitter paper and also popped up, the sentiment was stamped directly on the white panel with black ink.

I hope you’ll consider purchasing the Stronger Together stamp set.  You can order it from my website by clicking on stamps and then charity or by clicking here.

Thanks for stopping by!  I love reading your comments so I hope you’ll take an extra minute and leave me a little love.

Get Well

The Color My Heart Color Dare is still on Christmas break, but that doesn’t mean my creativity has to stop.

I loved the sentiment on this Get Well stamp.  Not the one you see on the front of the card, the one on the inside “and until then keep a safe distance!”

My card features the Adventure color palette, bright and cheery Lemon and Lagoon.  I colored the mug with my ShinHan markers and embellished it with two simple white enamel gems.

Leave me a comment and let me know what your favorite stamp set is and why you picked it from our annual inspirations catalog.

Inspiration Abounds

When I got my copy of Seasonal Expressions 2 the first thing I did was ooh and aah over the new papers, then I looked at the stamps, then I made my list of must haves and then I sat back and admired the artwork.  I feel that Close to My Heart really hit it out of the ballpark with this catalog supplement.

I was recently told “there is nothing in this catalog for a card maker”.  Seriously?  I am a card maker first and a scrapbooker second.  It really made me go back and look at the papers, accessories and stamps.  When I was first introduced to D.O.T.S  back in 1992 it was a card makers paradise and then memory keeping came along, but the one thing I have always appreciated is there really is an equal balance.

Today I’m bringing you a card that I was inspired to make from SE2 – mine is not an exact match, but the first person who comments with the correct page number and the set used in the catalog will win a package of Magical sequins!

Ready, set, here’s my card!

I loved the simplicity of this card.  I used our scallop border punch and a simple gold sequin along with some twine (like the kind you used to fly a kite with) that was sitting on my desk.

Before you make a quick judgment on a catalog or what a company offers take a couple of looks at the catalog.  Now can you find which card inspired me!

Thanks for stopping by…I hope you’ll come back and visit soon!

I’ve Got the Blues

I stopped by the Color My Heart Color Dare today – it’s been a while since I played along and how could I pass up with the monochromatic challenge of using blues with a little white daisy and black as neutrals!

I also noticed they are having a Design Team call so I’m throwing my hat in the ring for a chance to play along with a Design Team again.  I love the Color Dare because it allows you the freedom to choose whatever sketch you might decide to play along with too!

My entry is on a base of Crystal Blue CS.  The B&T mounted on the strip of black is from the Magical Papers – LOVE the design as it gives so much movement to the card!  The Feel Better sentiment, stamped in Pacifica,  is one of our mini stamps.  I am always reaching for the “M” size stamps – priced at just $2.95US you really need to add each of them to your collection!  The Sapphire scalloped circle is cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge.  To finish it off I embellished with a few blue sequins from the Magical Sequins collection and a few bitty sparkles.

I love the CAS look of this card, it really focuses on the message at hand.  Thanks for joining me today and if you get a chance stop by Color My Heart Color Dare and check out what their design team did with the challenge.  They are such a talented group of ladies, I really hope I’ll get to play along with them and get to know them better!

I’m A Guest at Atlantic Hearts #152

I loved my time as a Design Team Member at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, so you can imagine how I jumped at the chance to come back and be a guest designer.  Michelle graciously asked us to take a look at future sketches and pick one we’d like to do.  I finally just put the numbers of the sketches I was interested in doing in a bag and drew one, sketch #152.

I absolutely adore the new complement packs that are available to match each new paper packet – talk about taking the thinking out of crafting!

I love these cute little birds from the Penelope Paper Pack.  The colors are bright and cheery.  I don’t make many get well cards, but a dear friend is recovering from Achilles surgery so I wanted to send her a little cheer.  I mixed a few vellum shapes with a Playful Puffies and a couple of silver sequins.  I also got our fun new mini stapler and that’s how I attached the accent strip.  I’m including a close up of the cluster where you can see it all up close.

I hope you’ll stop by the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge on Wednesday and see what the  DT members are up to.  I’d love it if you took a minute to participate too!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ll take a minute and let me know what you think of the complements.
