I have been on a creative roll since this stamp set arrived on my door step. I had my card all made and swapped with some fellow consultants and then my new product order arrived. That’s right…brand new product is available TODAY and you are going to love it. That wonderful wood grain paper is now the foundation of our Rustic Fundamentals papers – a very basic set of terrific neutrals. The paper fundamentals line got a new make-over and YOU are going to LOVE them! The black cross is also from the fundamentals line only this time is the Uptown group. What do you think of this pretty green at the bottom of the card and also stamped with BOO!? It’s the brand new Color of the Year from Close to My Heart – Seaglass! It’s available in inks, cardstock and glitter paper – I think you’ll be seeing lots of it because it’s well….uhhhhh, kinda my new favorite color!

Halloween just happens to be one of my favorite holidays to make cards for so of course the Nevermore Paper Packet was high on my list of wants. I’ve also been revisiting using my Cricut cartridges.
When I was looking for ideas on Pinterest I found a cute coffin posted from the Jeanette Lynton Blog back in October 2012. I decided it would be a fun treat box for a sweet granddaughter!
I played around and cut a web and a spider along with the word Eek all with Artiste! I was having issues cutting the small letters in eek and decided it could just as easily be layered on a pennant. I even got to use my black tulle that I’ve had for a couple of years.
This coffin box will be part of a special Nevermore Class on September 17th. You will need to register by Saturday, September 5th to allow cutting time. Please call or e-mail me if you have additional questions.
Thanks for stopping by.
As promised I’m going to play in my craft room a little more and look it’s Tuesday and I have artwork to share! I went to the Mojo Monday blog where I learned about tall and skinny cards – well if you know me there is nothing tall and skinny about me, but I thought I’d give this card sketch a go!
I reached for my Scaredy Cat scraps to make this fun little 3.5 X 5.5 card. The stamp set is A Perfect Fit Halloween which I used in place of the squares – every once in a while you have to go outside the box! Instead of a bow I used a piece of black shimmer trim and used three stars as an embellishment.
I just love how it turned out and plan on making a few more cards this size. They are just perfect to let someone know that you are thinking of them and use up a small stash of scraps along the way!
I hope you’ll leave me a comment and tell me what you think!
I love Halloween – almost as much as Christmas. It brings back memories of my childhood, my mom dressing up to pass out the candy, making caramel apples and wondering if it would start snowing before we got back from trick or treating; so it’s no wonder that I instantly fell in love with the August Stamp of the Month – Give a Hoot!
I wanted to play in my craft room today, but had the responsibility of getting my papers cut for my Thursday night class. So, after getting everything trimmed and packaged I decided I would take a minute and get inky with this cute little owl.
I decided for quickness instead of originality and stayed with the Halloween theme, I also had a brand new package of Scardey Cat paper just waiting to be opened. As you might have spied in the above picture – we have NEW markers! Close to My Heart has partnered with Shinhan Art to sell a fantastic set of alcohol markers. I have used several kinds of alcohol markers and have not been overly impressed until today! The ink is so smooth and layers very nicely. I started small with just three “halloween” colors, but can’t wait for my complete set to arrive! The owls eyes are accessorized with Purple Glitter Gems that coordinate nicely with the new Thistle ink. You can’t tell real well in the picture but the Thistle cardstock has been embossed with the Quatrefoil embossing folder to give it some texture.
As I’ve mentioned in the past I think it’s just as important to take a minute and decorate the inside of your cards. Here I added a piece of black cardstock and new gold shimmer trim cut into banners and added a popped up jack o lantern from the same SOTM set. I first stamped the “Jack” and then layered the banners leaving the stem exposed. I then stamped another “Jack” and fussy cut it out cutting off it’s stem and layered it all together.
For just $5.00 with a qualifying purchase – What a Hoot surely needs to be added to your stamp collection, but hurry it’s only available through the month of August.
I’m trying to use up as much of my stash as I can before my new order comes from the Annual Inspirations. I decided to control my urges, but I still must use up my retired product to make room for the new! One of the fantastic benefits of being a Close to My Heart Consultant is the ability to order new product one month early, if you’d like this same benefit please contact me and I’ll tell you about the other wonderful benefits of belonging to one of the greatest sisterhoods in paper crafting!
My neighbor recently discovered box cards online and after a couple of unsuccessful attempts called for some help. We set a date to stamp and I turned to my favorite tutorial website for instruction. I knew that she was wanting to make these for Halloween so I sorted through my stash to see what I had in the Halloween department! I came up with a few scraps from the Mischief (now retired) paper pack and used the Creepy Creatures C1522 and Magic Potions C1509 both still available.
This is the box closed – as it will be mailed. The fence and moon are cut from the Artbooking Cartridge. The fence is on three sides of the box and have been layered 4 times to give it depth.
This is the box opened. I used cuts from the Artbooking, Artiste and Art Philosophy Cricut cartridges. The bats and “boo” are mounted on strips of acetate which gave them some extra height. I also added stamped images to the B & T paper.
I can’t wait to try a few more of these fun boxes!
I love any reason to send a card and with Halloween upon us I decided this might just be the perfect card for the October 1, 2, 3 Craft! Blog Hop. I’m not sure if you noticed, but last month’s hop grew by one and I’m so excited that Darlys decided to play along with us. Her work is absolutely amazing!
I’m taking a chance that all will post right, because as you read this I should be on the way to Salt Lake City for a little “girl time” before the Close to My Heart Album Retreat this weekend. I have been looking forward to this little get-away for months and am excited that Betsy and I are going to be devouring the town two days before the Album Retreat starts. Literally “devouring”…she asked me what I wanted to do and I said EAT and SHOP and EAT and SIGHT SEE and EAT, I’m sure you get the picture! When I found out that Darlys was going to be there too that was just like frosting on the cupcake…I just wish Mary could have come along with us! Can you imagine?!
This month our challenge is to use Make It From Your Heart Pattern #19 – the Make it From Your Heart volumes (there are two of them currently) are essential guides for creating beautiful scrapbook layouts and cards.
My card inspiration was the clear pillow box on page 84 of the Autumn/Winter Idea Book. I deconstructed the card sketch a little, by adding a solid line of the Bronze Shimmer Trim down the edge (have I mentioned how much I love this stuff…I now own it in every color we offer – it is my GO TO accessory!) The paper packet is the stripe from Babycakes and I added chocolate and juniper as my accents. I fussy cut the skeleton from the Creepy Creatures set and accessorized him with the sentiment and pumpkin from Perfect Fit Halloween.
You can stop by my business page www.papercraftingprincess.ctmh.com to purchase the supplies to make your own Halloween Cards. I have included a shopping list for you at the bottom of this post.
