A Note for You – AHSC #96

Wow…three weeks in a row, I’m pretty sure the moons have aligned!

With my crazy schedule adjusting to a full time 9 year old in my life, I stepped away from Social Media back in October.  I miss the connection that I had with my friends through Facebook, but also realized that there are other ways to keep in touch.  I did however catch the Instagram bug and have been enjoying posting pictures of my art at Papercrafting_Princess.

This past week Close to My Heart posted a #colorcrush to use Pixie/Smoothie/Sorbet/Goldrush so I thought I’d do a little combining of two challenges bringing some color to Sketch #96 at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

I had fun playing with this design.  I embossed the Pixie cardstock base with the dots embossing folder, then cut a scalloped design with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  I loved the X pattern in the strip and after looking at it mounted on the pink decided to add a  Smoothie piece behind it that would bring out the texture a bit more.  The flower is from a stamp set that has got a lot of use (I made 100 invitations for a ladies tea at church a few years ago with it).  The center of the flower is stamped with Pixie and unlike the larger flower it is not two stepped so I drew over the pink stitch line with my black journaling pen.

Yes, that’s real honest to goodness sunshine streaming through the window onto my card.  You can see in the second photo that I took a second strip and sponged some ink on the inside.  I started with just smudging Smoothie with a sponge and then went back and added Sorbet and Goldrush to give it a gradient look.

I’m excited to get this in the mail and surprise someone with a little cheer…my Happy Mail Campaign is well underway!

Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Mail X 2

I am ready for week two of the Happy Mail Campaign and since it was so much fun last week I decided to have twice the fun by filling two mail boxes with smiles!  The rules are just like last week…you can either keep your card or pass it on, you just have to keep the Happy Mail Chain going!

Both of these cards were created using features from the Artiste Cricut Cartridge.  I found the flower to be a little challenging, but I’m sure my next attempt will be a little more successful.   I love making masculine cards…of course mostly I love giving those cards to my husband and I had him in mind when I used the “You Bring A Smile To My Face” sentiment from a stamp set that I received at the Close to My Heart Convention in Dallas.

My hints for week two are a zip code that ends in one and one that has three of the same number!

Don’t forget to comment here and on my Papercrafting Princess Facebook page when you get your mail!

Happy Mail Campaign

I LOVE getting mail…ok, I get a little more excited when it’s not bills, political ads or junk, so I almost jumped up and down with joy when I learned about a new “Happy Mail Campaign” being introduced by Stacy Julian and Doodlebug!  You can read more about on Stacy’s Blog and although I can’t commit to 365 pieces of mail in a year I have committed to 52 (1 card a week).

Along with a card, you’ll receive a note from me explaining the pay it forward idea.  My cards will be homemade and unsigned so that you can either choose to reuse it or keep it!  My first card is safely tucked inside an envelope and on it’s way to a zip code that contains a “9” and a “2”.  Start watching your mail box and check back here often or my facebook page PapercraftingPrincess to see what next weeks hint will be!
