Make It Monday!

I just returned from an amazing week in Kauai where I did everything from sit by the pool to ride in a helicopter, but to be honest with you I’m so excited that the laundry is caught up and I found some time to make it to the Craft-Coop today!

I’ve been pondering a conversation that I recently had with someone about our card kits – one of my favorite products. They are priced reasonably, you get enough supplies to make 12 cards (including an exclusive stamp set) with plenty of leftovers to make additional projects. She said “I don’t care for them because I don’t want to make 12 of the same cards”. The great thing is you don’t have too…our instructions are just there to give you some guidance, but you can do whatever you want with your kit.

Today I decided that I’d focus on the Lucky Friendship Card Making Kit – Heart to Heart has a challenge about our favorite tools and Three Amigos is challenging us to use rainbows so this seemed like the perfect choice.

The top photo shows my card along with my favorite tool – my tweezers! These went missing a few months ago and I thought my crafting days were over! I use them all the time from placing small accessories to layering things. I LOVE my tweezers and was so sad when Close to My Heart retired them.

They next photos are a few of the cards I made with the leftover pieces of my card kit and that exclusive stamp set. Not even close to what the card kit cards are, but plenty of creativity!

C.A.S.E. with H2H

I did it, I did it…I got all the February challenges completed for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog!

This weeks challenge is C.A.S.E. which means Copy and Steal Everything! There are so many talented artists out there to be inspired by, but Heart 2 Heart wanted us to “copy and put our spin on a project from the current Seasonal Expressions Idea Book”.

I don’t think there is a greater form of flattery than when someone wants to copy your work…unfortunately I fell victim to someone that was unscrupulous a few months ago that actually stole a piece of my artwork and put their own stamp on it. It’s important to also give credit where credit is due when inspired by a card.

My inspiration came from page 84 of the Seasonal Expressions 1 A Birthday in Watercolor. The talented artists at Close to My Heart are always an inspiration!

My spin was to use a B&T paper from the Seasonal Mix-Ins paper packet and choose a color combination from the Love of Color – Glacier, Sweet Leaf & Thistle. I also didn’t have the puffy sticker embellishments (what’s wrong with me) used on the original card so I used I Heart Us sequins mixed in with the spatters.

I hope you will look at the Close to My Heart Catalogs more than just a place to shop, but also as a source of inspiration. Find a card that you love and share it with the Heart to Heart Challenge Blog.

Thanks for stopping by…see you soon!

A Little Heart to Heart

I had a little play time in The Craft-Coop this week and decided it would be fun to revisit my old friend the Heart to Heart Challenge Blog.  The greatest thing about H2H is that challenges are posted each Monday morning and are open until the last day of the month.

The first February Challenge is titled Favorite Recipe it’s open to interpretation so I chose to use my favorite recipe from Make It From Your Heart Vol 4.

We’ve had an unusual February in which we were blanketed with A LOT of snow.  My card features a fun polar bear from the Got Snow hostess rewards set and papers from the I Heart Us paper packet.  To keep things “cool” I added some silver shimmer trim along the edge and some bitty sparkles in the centers of the snowflakes.  Would you like to add this set to your stamping collection – let’s chat about becoming a hostess!

The second challenge was I Heart Us – and the directions were to use either the I Heart Us paper packet or include pictures of people/things that we love.

I thought these papers from the I Heart Us Collection would make a cheery thank you card.  The thin cut stitched hearts where a fun addition to fill in the sentiment section for my shortened sentiment.  The “Thanks” also comes from the I Heart Us cardmaking stamp set.

The third challenge is Invitation Only – this may mean you create an invite, maybe you’ve been invited somewhere that needs a card for the occasion, or maybe you want to share a project inspired by an invitation only event.

I chose to create an invitation for an upcoming Scrapbook Day called Memories in the Making.

My card again uses I Heart Us Papers and a stamp set available to Consultants only. A piece of Mink Twine and Silver Glitter Gems keep my embellishments simple so the eye keeps drawn to the party details.

Now to get these linked over at Heart 2 Heart and check back with them on Monday for their final challenge of February maybe I can snag a perfect attendance badge for the month of February.

Thanks for stopping by…I always appreciate reading your comments so I hope you’ll take an extra minute to drop me a note.

Inspired by Nature

Heart 2 Heart Challenges asks what it looks like outside where you are?  My Craft Coop windows are flanked with trees that are bit by bit losing their leaves.

My card was inspired by those leaves falling in the breeze and a card that I had seen on Pinterest here.  I love perusing Pinterest for card ideas there are so many wonderful artists to gain inspiration from, however I always put my own twist on the card.

I have always loved (until recently) sending happy mail so I seem to be getting a lot of use out of this Hello Friend Sentiment from the Grateful Heart Cardmaking Stamp set.

I hope you’ll consider checking out the Heart 2 Heart Challenges – their challenges are posted weekly but open for the entire month so it gives you lots of time to participate.

Thanks for stopping by…happy fall y’all!

Snowflakes Glisten

My friend Debi (who was never going to do challenges) has been sharing the posts at Heart 2 Heart and I’ve been inspired to go take a peek at what she’s been up to and of course I decided that I needed to play along!

Since I was in the Coop early this morning and got a few things done that NEEDED done I discovered some extra play time so TWO blog posts in one day.

The Challenge for the week of October 22nd was called Glitter & Glam and since everyone knows that Blings My Thing how could I not play along?!  I knew right away that I wanted to use a big snowflake cut from Sugarplum Glitter Paper, I also knew that I wanted to use the barnwood paper from the Seasonal Mixins (such a fun packet of paper).  I turned to my trusty Love of Color Guide and found that Mink, Eggplant and Sugarplum would make a delightful color trio.  I also had some retired Eggplant shimmer ribbon so it made perfect sense to use it.  I sprinkled a few bitty and regular sparkles around the card to add a little more “Glam”.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card…now I’m off to feed a calf and start the regular chores of my day!  BTW it’s 5:30am and I think it’s going to be a long day!

Pumpkin Time

I’m starting my morning much like I started yesterday only much earlier – it’s only 4:30am and I’ve been in The Coop for an hour and a half after not being able to sleep since midnight (may as well let hubby sleep instead of keeping him awake with my tossing and turning).

Yesterday morning I stopped by the Heart 2 Heart Challenge and learned about their Pumpkin Spice challenge – the last one of October – their actually keeping the date open until Saturday, November 3rd.  My plans to participate yesterday were a little derailed, but here I am ready now to participate.

I love fall…the rich colors of the leaves, cooler weather and it’s holiday season!  I’m not much of a Pumpkin Spice Girl – however I do like pumpkin pie.  Do you?  I’ve found it’s either a love it or hate it kind of thing.  I used to tell my mom that it was great for breakfast and I was getting my serving of vegetables out of the way.

OK, ok, the card!  I loved this PML card that was in the Grateful Heart paper packet.  I stamped the Hello Friend stamp from the coordinating stamp set and layered it on New England Ivy CS which was then layered on Fern and finally the Saffron B&T from the same paper packet.  I used some retired NEI Twine for a simple accent.

If you get some time stop by the Heart 2 Heart Challenges – they have a new challenge weekly, but allow you to link up the entire month so even if week 1 doesn’t work, but you like the challenge you still have time to play!

Thanks for stopping by!

Double Trouble #5

Here we go again causing trouble and moving Christmas to July!!!  What else would you expect from the Double Trouble Gang!

Thing 1 is making her list and checking it twice and gonna find out who’s playing along with our challenges or being nice!  Her challenge this week is to create anything Christmas and include a sentiment or journaling.

If you’ve been following me for long you know that my “thing” is fun-fold or fancy-fold cards so our TWIST this week is to submit something other than a standard A2 fold card.

Thing 3 found a great challenge for us to link up with…the team at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is also celebrating Christmas in July (we may have led them astray just a bit)

So, here’s my card…it’s called the Impossible Card, but seriously it is probably the easiest fun fold card I’ve ever done and it folds flat to mail.  Just search Pinterest and you’ll find several tutorials.

img_0791

Although I’ve seen this years Close to My Heart Christmas paper choices – trust me YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THEM, I’m choosing to use papers from last year.  I started with a Fern colored base and then added a strip of New England Ivy to which I adhered one of the zip strips.  I then added a sentiment stamped on one of the circle die cuts.  For my focus panel I layered the poinsettia paper on NEI and then layered a Cricut flower popped up over a strip of Silver glitter paper.

I sincerely hope you’ll add some Double Trouble to your life…we are seriously one of the funnest Challenge Blogs around, in my humble opinion of course!
