I haven’t taken a lot of time lately to play along with many challenges, but when I saw the Mojo Monday Sketch today I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Several months ago I had picked up some shaker components from Queen & Company – they just happened to be a star shape, so I immediately reached for them, unfortunately the seed beads and my acetate have a little static attraction. The B&T paper is from the Dreamin’ Big Paper Packet from Close to My Heart when I was creating with it the other day it reminded me of constellations. I wanted one last star effect for this card so I reached for the Star Confetti Embossing Folder.
I had a great time playing with an old challenge. Take a minute and leave me a comment and why not step outside your box and play along with a challenge today!
Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare. This week we are featuring the colors of the Oh Deer! paper packet.
I combined the sketch from Mojo Monday #477 with the Oh Deer Papers, Oh Deer Complements and a little Sea Glass Glitter Paper for this elegant card. I think the Complement packs are somewhat overlooked for card making, but here I added one of the stickers (the jingle bell strip) and one of the Kraft dies (the stag). My card was husband tested and approved 🙂
OK, now it’s YOUR turn! The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage. Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!
While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!
Do you use the complements available with the paper packets? Leave me a comment and let me know. Thanks for stopping by I’d love to see your artwork in the Color Dare.
It’s Tall & Skinny week over at the Mojo Monday Blog and since that’s my dream I thought I’d play along.
It’s not often that I’ll grab from my Stampin’ Up stash, but I just love the new Painted Petals stamp set and Painted Blooms DSP. Since SU! has added photo polymer stamps to their list of products I’m back to playing with them more often. It also helps that my husband’s niece’s are both demonstrators and the gravitational pull to the dark side is strong.
I had a lot of fun with this sketch and for a little added texture decided to emboss both of the cardstock bands. Of course no card is complete without a little bling so I added a strip of Close to My Hearts Gold Glitter Paper (it just improves the look of that all SU! card) as the banner.
Thanks for stopping by…hope you find some Mojo this week to play along with one of your favorite challenges.
One of my favorite stamp sets is the Charming Chevrons and I love to match them with the Chevron Sparkles…I paired it with the Life Is Sweeter M size stamp, it just looks like those Chevrons are pointed right at the sentiment. I used a little more of the Brushed Paper Packet and separated the papers with two strips of the skinny washi tape from the Carnival Washi Tape in the new Seasonal Expressions 2. I think it’s one of my favorite embellishments from the new catalog.
I’m really enjoying playing in the Color My Heart Color Dare, it’s taking my stamping out of the box you should follow the link and play along too.
OK, so this is my most favorite card of all time!!! It’s based on the sketch over at Mojo Monday. When I started playing with it I couldn’t stop and now it’s going to get framed and sit right above my desk to remind me to believe!
I started with the Wanderful Paper Packet (I’ve been hoarding it) but now that I’ve played with it once it’s sure to go quickly. I want to make a mini scrapbook for my girlfriend that I went to Mexico with at Christmas. I picked a stamp that I got at a CTMH event last year and found that the Doodle Art circle fit perfectly around it. I added a Puffy Black Arrow right over the top of the stamped arrow. I attached the butterflies because it seemed to fit my mood of wanting to spread my wings. I couldn’t stop there I felt it was unbalanced so I added a couple of banner tails of Black Shimmer Trim, but wait there is more.
Here’s a close up of the circle I added Bitty Sparkles around the outside edge.
I hope you’ve enjoyed stopping by and I hope you’ll come back often.
I disappeared in the craft room today to make a birthday card…then my Valentine stamps started calling my name and since the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge was printed I decided I could probably steal enough time to get a second card made.
This is sketch #378 from Mojo Monday
and this is my interpretation
My card started with a base of Whisper and then I pulled a couple of B & T’s from the Heartstrings paper packet to make the pennants. The band across the middle was embossed with the new Heart embossing folder…I think it’s my new favorite. I stamped the circle from Doodled Designs in Pixie and the Happy Valentines Day sentiment in Cranberry. The silver heart is from the Stuck on You Puffies.
As promised I’m going to play in my craft room a little more and look it’s Tuesday and I have artwork to share! I went to the Mojo Monday blog where I learned about tall and skinny cards – well if you know me there is nothing tall and skinny about me, but I thought I’d give this card sketch a go!
I reached for my Scaredy Cat scraps to make this fun little 3.5 X 5.5 card. The stamp set is A Perfect Fit Halloween which I used in place of the squares – every once in a while you have to go outside the box! Instead of a bow I used a piece of black shimmer trim and used three stars as an embellishment.
I just love how it turned out and plan on making a few more cards this size. They are just perfect to let someone know that you are thinking of them and use up a small stash of scraps along the way!
I hope you’ll leave me a comment and tell me what you think!
Since I’ve nearly depleted my stash of birthday cards I grabbed the Confetti Wishes paper pack and the Build a Cake My Acrylix stamp set and went to work. I wanted to continue the dot theme so I embossed the Canary band. Since the circle I used was a bit larger I couldn’t stack the cake after consulting Miss B (my 9 year old granddaughter) we decided that the “layers” looked enough like presents to stack them up as such and give me another use for the stamps.
I appreciate you stopping by…I’m hoping that I’ll get my other challenges completed before the weekend comes to an end.
This is my interpretation of the sketch using the retired Close to My Heart Laughing Lola paper. I added some purple shimmer trim in place of the ribbon and also added a sparkle flourish – because a little bling never hurt anything!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my artwork this week and that you might be inspired to stop by one of the challenge blogs and create something too!
