Tommy Comes to the Paper Trail

What do you get when you mix the primary colors of Outdoor Denim, Cranberry and Honey with a favorite neutral, Desert Sand?  Why the perfect papers to scrapbook a Caribbean Cruise of course!

Welcome to the Paper Trail Blog Hop where Tommy is being featured for the month of June…if you’ve arrived here from Linda’s The Paper Taylor you are on the right path…if you’re starting here that’s pretty awesome too…you can just continue to follow the links and pretty soon you’ll be sailing right back into port here.

May has been a crazy month at my house…we decided to do some small repairs to our 1923 farm-house and ended up in the middle of a major remodel.  My living room furniture ended up in my craft room (my almost 4-year-old granddaughter announced on her last visit – “grandma your  house is a dirty filthy mess”) which allowed for minimal space to even think about crafting!

I don’t do much on Studio J, but after playing with it quite seriously before the Close to My Heart convention last year and picking up a few tricks I thought I may as well experiment and get my cruise  from January scrapbooked.

I loved playing with the My Stickease to come up with fun clusters.  The ease of being able to layer and take away is just the click of a button.  I also realized how fast a layout would go together.  I uploaded all my photos and then could pick my layout based on how many photos I wanted to include on a page.  I could change paper colors and of course I love the new feature of being able to exchange a photo well for a journaling spot…hmmm, could I be wordy?

This title page was so fun to build…I just kept adding fun images and used the alphabet tool to make my title.

I won’t bore you with all 13 layouts, but this is a sampling of what you can do with Studio J.  It took me a fraction of the time to scrapbook my entire cruise and now I just have to put it in my scrapbook and I’m done!  I finished from start to finish in about 3 days – a few hours each day.  I might just get caught up if I would use Studio J more often.

When you finish hopping through the Paper Trail and you’d like to give Studio J a try there is nothing to download just follow my link and you’ll be taken to my business page where you can create an account or just play around.  I’m sure it will make your dream of scrapbooking your favorite memories come true.

Now cruise on over to Amy’s Blog The Pineapple Paper Artist where you are in for a treat.

Happy Crafting!

Paper Trail Blog Hop Wows on Half Pipe with Later Sk8tr

Welcome to the Paper Trail Blog Hop!

If you’ve arrived here from Linda’s Paper Taylor  you are on the right path if you started here don’t worry we are a circular hop and you will soon be doing ollies and McTwists over the artwork with Close to My Heart’s Later Sk8tr paper packet during the month of May if you follow the half pipe you’ll eventually end up right where you started!

I LOVE the colors of this paper! Lagoon, Pear, Outdoor Denim, Whisper, Slate and a touch of White Daisy are such versatile colors. Although the paper speaks “BOY” I think I was able to surprise myself by adding a couple of girl twists.  I did lots of things with this paper and even found myself splitting an additional pack with MC, so I could do more.  I will be showcasing items throughout the month so please check back often.

First and foremost I find most of my joy in making cards.  It was what I was first introduced to 20+ years ago and bringing a smile to family and friends mailboxes is something that brings me a lot of joy.  That little “Gold Crown” store has nothing on this Papercrafting Princess!

Later Sk8r Cards
Later Sk8r Cards
Birthday Wishes
Birthday Wishes

This Birthday Wishes card is cut using the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  The swing card has become one of my favorites.  As I’ve mentioned before I like a card that has some movement and is not the “typical” card.  I used the “pocket” stamp from the coordinating stamp set and added some of the new blue and green bubbles.  How easy peasy is that?

My next birthday card is for my sweet niece that turned 11.  I added a pop of Hollyhock along with one of the new Pink Glitter Gems to make it a touch girly!  I know that she will love the cards as it’s the colors of her favorite baseball team, it will also probably help to have a little “green stuff” inside!

I saw this card at a recent unit meeting and I couldn’t wait to make one for myself.  It takes a little work, but is worth every minute I put into it!  The cute A BowWow stamp set is just $6.95 and comes with 2 versatile sentiments.  I added a bit of dimensional tape to the dog to pop him off the card and add a bit more depth.  I just love the way it plays with the eye.

I hope you’ll come back and visit me tomorrow for a very special scrapbook page using the Later Sktr papers.  To make sure that you don’t miss my posts, please follow me by clicking the link to the right! Now kickflip on over  to Karen’s Inky Fingers blog where you’ll find more amazing art!

Claire Visits Paper Trail

Welcome to the Paper Trail blog hop where Claire is making her first appearance, you should have arrived here from Linda’s Paper Taylor, but if you didn’t don’t worry…this is a circular hop and you will eventually end up right back where you started.

I have to be honest Claire was not one of those paper packets that jumped right off the pages of the catalog screaming – YOU HAVE TO HAVE ME and had it not been for the Paper Trail I probably wouldn’t have invested in the pretty Hollyhock, Blush, Sunset and Outdoor Denim combination.  What did appeal to me was the “Girls Rock” stamp set on the page opposite the paper pack and since I was forced to use the paper (in jest of course) I decided I had to have the stamp too! =)  The paper turned out to be pretty versatile…not only is it a wonderful floral, but there are some magnificent geometric designs as well.

When I was thinking about projects that I could use this paper for, my mind flew straight to a very dear friend that just welcomed his baby girl to the world.  Little “Mercy” is cute as a button and is going to bring the pages of the My Creations Showcase 6 X 6 accordion album come to life.

For each of the layouts I used my Wishes Card Layout Design book and picked 4.5 X 4.5 square card patterns – I increased the dimensions, but left the general layout the same.  Now there are perfect little places for her mommy & daddy to place pictures and even some room to stick in some journaling.  If you’d like to make an accordion album of your own…drop me a line, I’d love to help you!

Now’s the time to pick up the pace and head on over to Lynn’s Field’s Finery to see what she has in store for you!

Can’t wait to see you back in a few weeks with 1, 2, 3…Craft!

Bees Buzz and Bumble on Paper Trail

Welcome to March on the Paper Trail where the bees are buzzing, if you’ve made your way here from Lynne’s Fields Finery you are on the right path, if you are starting here don’t worry we are a circular hop just bumble along and you’ll soon find your way back here full of all kinds of ideas for this new paper packet from Close to My Heart.  Buzz and Bumble appealed to me from the minute I opened my Idea Book…with it’s Cocoa and Champagne neutrals to the Goldrush, Creme Brulee, Sunset and Sweetleaf touches who could not fall in love with this paper?!

I had a great time creating with this paper.  My first feature is an accordion card…I love cards that have movement or some element that is different from the standard opening card.  I have included views of it both closed and open, the band on the front hides the inside sentiment.

My second card is a 6 X 6 … I love this size card as it gives so much presentation.  The 6 X 6 cards featured in both the Originals and Wishes Pattern Books would also lend themselves to being transformed into a scrapbook page.018

8 Card Set

I have decided to use the 8 card collection as a fund-raiser for Operation Smile.  From today until March 10th you will have a chance to place a “bid” on the cards by visiting my Facebook Papercrafting Princess Page.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit to my site this month, I hope that you’ll bookmark it and come back often.  Now head on over to The Wizard’s Hangout where I am sure Vicki has amazing art waiting for you!

Paper Trail Plays turns Black & White with a Twist of Color

Welcome to the Paper Trail where February gives a twist of color to the basic black and white!  If you’ve made your way here from Vicki’s Wizard Hangout welcome…please bookmark my blog and come back frequently…if you’ve started here don’t worry we’re a circular hop and you will eventually wind your way right back to the beginning with lots of ideas for terrific projects.

With the release of the Close to My Heart Spring/Summer 2013 catalog the Paper Trail group had the hard task of figuring out which of the seven new paper packets we’d be featuring…I kept my fingers crossed that the For Always pack would make the cut and lucky for me it was the first one we featured.

My buddy Mary

I spent the good part of a day crafting with my friend MC…it seems as though I get such inspiration from stepping into her craft room…we always get a good deal of chatting in too!  She is so good for my soul.

Now, for the real reason you stopped by…

I purchased the For Always Card Making Kit which features the colors Slate, Whisper, White Daisy and Smokey Plums.  I loved the accessories and stamp set which helped me make my decision.

I only made one card that followed the Card Workshop Patterns so I could share the versatility of this fantastic set.

The pattern for this card is included in the Card Workshop Kit.
The pattern for this card is included in the Card Workshop Kit.

Of course I love making cards of varying sizes so I made this delightful 4 X 4 card using the colors from the card packet, but making my own black and white background with the new In the Background stamp set.  I also used the Quick Cards Butterfly – one of the great new A size stamps that are perfect for a “quick card”.  I embellished with some gray bakers twine and slate accents.

I used a technique on the butterfly that I have seen a lot, but not tried until now and will be using more in the future!  I started by inking the entire stamp with Whisper and then added Smokey Plum and finally Slate with sponge daubers.  I love the multi-color shading on one stamp – such a magical technique.

My next card is one of my favorites – a swing card from the Cricut Artiste collection.  The Love stamp in the middle is stamped in Ruby which is such a traditional compliment to the black & white a little Shimmer Glitter Trim and my card was complete.

Of course every princess loves pink and I am no exception.  I used Hollyhock for my accent color along with a scalloped circle with the new glitter paper and topped it off with a left over stick flower from the Autumn Lane collection.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my offerings this month and will hop on over to Betsy’s blog (I got a sneak peek and it is definitely worth the click!).

Paper Trail Winds It Way To France

What better way to start the new year than with new inspiration from the Paper Trail Blog Hop.  If you have found your way here from Karen’s Inky Fingers blog you are on the right path, if you are starting here that’s alright too we are a circular hop and you will eventually work your way through the entire hop and end up right back where you started.

This month we are featuring the La Belle Vie paper pack with its exclusive colors of La Belle Vie Mauve and La Belle Vie Pink and great neutrals of Black and Bamboo round out the elegance of this paper packet.

I spent an entire day with my friend MC who is also a member of our blog hop working on my projects and lamenting that this paper packet just isn’t one of my favorites, the paper is quite girly and has a French theme!  She later asked me what I do with paper that I do like, LOL!  I have to admit that by the end of the day it was growing on me and I am happy how things turned out.

So I guess it must be time to share my projects…

I started with Close to My Heart’s new My Creations Star, I had been looking for a way to showcase this fun star and after seeing some lovely ideas of using it as a wreath decided to use mine with a Valentine belle vie 003la belle vie 002

For the center I cut a piece of the black tulle ribbon (which I was pleasantly surprised had a little sparkle to it) and mounted a doily cut from the Cricut and for a finishing touch I stuck in a hat pin from the retiring bling set.  I also added a Sparkles Black Flourish to one leg of the star to give it a little added punch!

la belle vie 004

My next project was a group of four cards…all taken from design books by Jeanette Lynton (I honestly forgot to write down the patterns).  You learn to do these important things as you go along I suppose.

I still have a lot of paper left even after finishing these projects…I think I have some Valentine making in my future.  Now take a minute and follow the link and hop on over to Lynne’s Field Finery to see what she has in store for you!  Happy New Year.

Avonlea Graces Paper Trail With Elegance in December

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the beautiful Avonlea Paper Packet featured on the Paper Trail Blog Hop, if you have made your way here from Amy’s Blog you are on the right track if not that’s ok, we are a circular hop and if you follow the links you’ll end up right back here!

This catalog has really challenged me to pick a favorite paper and I have to Avonlea is in the top three!  As soon as I saw the paper, I knew that although it screamed WINTER with the beautiful snowflake patterns it had so much more to offer with its elegant colors.  The  paper packet features three seasonal colors Avonlea Off-White, Avonlea Teal, Avolea Green which coordinate perfectly with our newly released Slate Cardstock.  Of course a touch of Chocolate or Smokey Plum as featured in the Workshop on the Go Avonlea Card Making Kit  gives you some amazing pops of color for accents.

My first card features a teal and slate background with just a hint of the large patterned paper, I wanted to feature a rosette of green and topped it with a crocheted flower and brad from the Antiqued Gold Mini-Medley Accents Collection.

My second card was cut from the Artiste Cartridge and the “Congrats” stamped in Slate is from the coordinating Artiste Stamp Set.  A touch of Silver Shimmer Trim (my favorite new accessory) makes a very elegant card perfect for a wedding!

Once again I thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll check back again to see what else I’ve done with this versatile kit.  Believe me, I have several things up my sleeve.  Now head on over to the Vicki’s Wizards Hangout and be ready to be awed!

There’s a Partridge in a Pear Tree on the Paper Trail

November means the sudden approach of the Christmas season and the Paper Trail is focusing its vision on the seasonally appropriate Pear & Partridge Paper Pack.  If you’ve made your way here from Mary’s blog you are on the right path, but if not don’t worry we’re a circular hop and if you follow the links you’ll end up right back where you started with plenty of new inspiration gathered along the way.

I have been playing with the Pear & Partridge Card Making Kit, but decided at the last-minute that I wanted to scrapbook my Christmas pictures from last year.  My mom recently passed away from cancer and my favorite picture is one of her “modeling a new scarf” that she had received as a gift.  So, I turned to Studio J for help!  I LOVE Studio J…within just a few minutes I had dropped my pictures into photo wells, did a quick rotation of the 2nd page, colored the accessories and sent it to my cart and now it’s here!

I hope you have enjoyed my little trip down memory lane…now hop on over to Karen’s blog and take a look at what she has in store, I’m sure it’s going to be worth “5 Golden Rings”.

Feeling A Little Flirty!

This month on the Paper Trail we are featuring Close to My Heart’s Flirty Paper!  Let me just say I LOVE this paper!

If you are finding your way here from Vicki’s Wizard Hangout I’m sure you’ve already seen some amazing artwork with this paper!  Vicki amazes me every month with her creativity!  If you haven’t don’t worry about it…you see we are a circular trail and pretty soon you’ll wind up right back where you started!

I had time this month to make both a scrapbook layout and a set of cards.  This paper really speaks fall and romance to me and with several seasonal colors you won’t want to miss playing with this paper.

Moonlight For My Pumpkin

If your hopping from patch to patch and made your way here from  Connie’s Scraps & Stories you’re on the right Paper Trail Path…if you didn’t well you can certainly start here and work your way around we are a circular hop…it makes it easier for you and the Great Pumpkin!

I’m a Halloween girl I admit it!   I fell in love with the Moonlight Paper from the minute my eyes laid on it (almost quicker than I fell in love with my Wrangler wearing sweetheart).  I also fell in love with all the amazing Halloween My Acrylix Stamp Sets in the Autumn Winter Idea Book.  After you work your way along the “Paper Trail” hop on over to my business page and take a look at everything Halloween!

I decided to focus on using these terrific papers with a Pumpkin Patch theme.  Using the Performance layout from Magic and rotating the first page, my layout will take on a hauntingly fun time with my parents at the pumpkin patch.  I have had a horrendous week and instead of letting everyone down have posted my “naked” layout to keep you inspired.  I hope if you’re subscribed you’ll see the updated post and come back and take a look once I get pictures on it.

I have some other exciting ideas for this paper once I get my life back under control, so you’ll be seeing more of me soon!  For now, weave your way through the spider webs and hooting owls to Linda’s Paper Taylor she won’t disappoint you!

Thanks again for stopping by!
