I’d like to let you in on a little secret…when I’m in a hurry or just lacking some mojo the first place I turn is a Challenge Blog. Being a new member of the Double Trouble Design Team has exposed me to a bunch of new challenges, but I can’t let my old standbys go on without a little love.
This week is one of the most popular weeks at the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge – it’s a Tic Tac Toe week – we provide the Color Board and you decide which row you want for the win. I chose a Designer Paper that had most of the colors in it from the retired Documented papers.
I also really liked Sketch #280 over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I knew exactly how I wanted to work this card with one of the wood titles from Documented. I hadn’t used any of them yet and with the heart in the upper corner I decided an anniversary card was right up my alley. I have dear friends celebrating 32 years of wedded bliss this week so I thought that was a huge reason to get a card – seriously I don’t know how she’s put up with him that long, LOL!
Well that’s it for today…I wanted to share how I get a little help from my friends and hope that maybe you’ll give each of these sketch challenges a try too.
One Sheet Wonders have been around for a long time. You can find a healthy dose of them on Pinterest, but when I saw this pattern designed by a Canadian Consultant I knew I needed to purchase it – the fact that it worked out to only be $2.37 with the exchange rate was a bonus!
That’s right…all these cards came from one 6X6 piece of patterned paper. I actually could have got 5 out of the pattern, but I was using a sampler that had a hole punched in the corner – I’m happy with my 4 cards though.
These papers are from the new Boutique line and the Stamp set is from the Workshops Your Way Hugs for You Cardmaking Kit. These card kits are an amazing value you get everything to make 12 cards (6 each of two designs) including an exclusive stamp set. You can find the card kit here on my website. If you’re not sure about having 6 cards all alike I’m offering a Card Kit Club – we meet quarterly and you can find that information on my Facebook Page under events.
“School days, school days
Dear old Golden Rule days
‘Reading and ‘riting and ‘rithmetic
Taught to the tune of the hick’ry stick”
It’s September, mom’s & dad’s everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief…school has started! It also means that over at the Double Trouble Papercrafting Challenge we’ve got a School Days Challenge happening! Twisted Sister (that’s me if you haven’t figured it out yet) challenges you to include a bookmark with your project and the final challenge issued by Thing 2 is to link up with this fantastic sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday!
I kind of new what I wanted to do – even borrowed my friend Debi’s stamp sets, but when I sat down at my desk I went a completely different way, but that only means an opportunity to put together another card right?!
I started with a base card cut from Ballerina CS – don’t you love the soft pink? The measurements are 5.5 X 10.5 – scored it at 4.25 and then I used my Tonic Perforator tool at 2 inches from the right side for the bookmark.
I then used papers from the recently released Boutique Paper collection to put together my sketch. I have a niece starting college this year and I wanted to drop her a note to let her know that we were thinking of her and to have a great year.
Don’t you just love this new Close to My Heart Stamp Set – My Type of Note. I think I learned to bang out letters on a typewriter that looked really similar.
I hope you’ll consider popping over to the Double Trouble Papercrafting Challenge…my teammates and I have a really fun time with this blog challenge and it would be fun to see your artwork linked up…you even get a chance to win a “bag of things” and I promise it’s not Thing 1, Thing 2 or Twisted Sister, but some really cool things!
Every good tourist should have a camera and the Magical paper pack gives you a B&T paper that is filled with choices! My friend Debi G and I had a productive day in the Coop Monday and we put together this cute camera that we saw on Instagram by Aaron Brown (another CTMH Consultant).
What’s special about this card? It’s got a sneak peak of a brand new color Candy Apple! I love that we finally have a true red in our color palette, the fact that it works so well with Lagoon is just an added bonus.
I thought I had a pretty colorful little Instax camera – since mine is just white it was fun to dream a little.
I’m linking up with the Three Amigo’s Blast From the Past – using their Challenge #10 Anything Goes! They are a fun group of ladies…not quite as fun as Double Trouble, but close!
I hope you’ll consider purchasing the Magical paper packet while it’s on special thru September 30th. It is such a fun, colorful paper good for so much more than just amusement park scrapbooking.
TGIF!!! I’ve been crazy busy in the Craft Coop – convention is NEXT WEEK, but I am happy to report that I’m all ready thanks to my friend and fellow DT member Debi!
The Design Team is playing with the colors Blossom, Linen & New England Ivy this week – such a fun summery combination. Linen is actually one of my favorite new neutrals – it’s a creamy white and I just love it’s rich tone.
That cute Just for You stamp is from the Stamped With Love stamp set – a cute A sized stamp set with images for the front & back of your cards.
Now it’s your turn to grab your ink and papers and make a project. You’ll find the rules for the Color My Heart Color Dare here. Although we list the color names from Close to My Heart they are not required to play along.
Thanks for stopping by! I hop you find lots of stamping time this summer and will come play along.
There’s a new blog challenge in town and I’m super excited that I was asked to be on the Design Team from the very beginning.
Double Trouble was founded by my stamping friends Sue and Melanie and well you know me, where Trouble leads I follow!!! We are really TWO challenges in one – an opportunity to do a simple challenge & the Double Dare to link up to an additional challenge with the same card, every once in a while I’ll pop in with a special “TWIST”.
My card features papers from Close to My Heart’s Beautiful Friendship collection and a retired stamp set Treats of Friendship also from Close to My Heart. I chose a small print for my all over background and a larger print (the teapots & cups) for my second piece. It’s good to combine sizes of prints so that they don’t compete with one another. I kept my stamping simple – just a teacup which I colored with Copic Markers and then I stamped my sentiment in Sapphire Ink and tucked the tag under my gray ribbon. I added a couple of pearls for a simple accent.
I hope you’ll head over to the Double Trouble Blog to learn more about our challenges. If you’re new around these parts I hope you’ll click the Follow Button where you can get updated each time I post.
Here it is Friday already! Welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare. This week we are featuring the colors: Raspberry, Mink & Juniper. You can always use black & white unless otherwise stated in the challenge post.
You’ll notice some Shin Han Markers sitting on top of the ink pads in my photograph, alcohol inks are a wonderful little tool and with just the right combination you can turn them into something completely different. According to a chart provided by Close to My Heart layering Warm Grey, Pastel Green and Turquoise will give you a color that resembles Juniper – I think if I’d cut my owl from White cardstock instead of the B&T it might have given better results, but it’s close.
OK, now it’s YOUR turn! The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage. Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!
I’m so thrilled to be back among such a talented group of artists. I hope you’ll take a minute to visit each of their pages and leave a little comment. It’s what keeps us creating for you.
