Hoppy Easter

I had some free time Sunday afternoon to “hop” into my craft room and play with some Easter cards.  I have always loved sending Easter cards, because unlike Christmas they are unexpected!

I apologize for the small photos, but I somehow managed to misplace my camera so these were taken with my I-phone what it lacks in detail I’ll try and share with my post.

Both cards were made using the Hoppy Easter My Acrylix Stamp Set (B1423).  The first card boasts the traditional bunny and used papers from the Skylark Paper Packet  the soft greens and vibrant lagoon colors remind me so much of the renewal of spring. The middle section is punched with the scalloped border punch to give it a little texture.  I also added a piece of shimmer trim behind the rabbit, added some grass cut from the Cricut Artiste cartridge and added some clear sparkles on the egg.

My second card although from the same set feels a bit more girly with the Ariana papers.  Both card patterns are taken from the Make It From Your Heart Volume 2 pattern book.  I fussy cut the bouquet of flowers and popped them up with 3D foam tape and tied them with a bit of Bakers Twine.

I’m hoping that I can find some more time to play – but it’s a beautiful day here and I’ve already felt that I spent too much time indoors.

Happy Spring!

An Unassuming Little Book

DSCN0109

It’s a rather unassuming little book from the outside – wrapped in a brown paper cover.

There’s not much more on the inside…spiral bound pages with a big gaping hole!

I hadn’t given Close to My Heart’s Hip Pic album much thought – until a few weeks ago.  I attended a Close to My Heart “Rediscover” event and discovered a fun new product during the create-n-take.  A sturdy kraft chipboard album with16 spiral bound white pocket photo pages with 3¾” × 3¾” windows hold 16 – 4″ × 6″ photos.  With a suggested price of under $10 – I see lots of possibilities for these in my future.

I followed the layout we were given the night of the event, but chose to complete my book using the Ariana paper packet and Base & Bling Story Teller Style Sheet to turn mine into a Mother’s Day gift.

Once I figured out my layout and color scheme I did my stamping first, next I added all my “flat” paper and at the very end went a little crazy with the embellishments.  You’ll notice that most of the cardstock pieces are embossed using the new embossing folders – I LOVE the TEXTURE!!!

If you’d like to make a mother’s day album, a vacation album or a birthday album…I’d love to help you!  Gather a group of friends and we’ll put them together in an afternoon!

Happy Stamping!

A Return to the Paper Trail with Ariana

After a short break from the Paper Trail to make it through a few busy months, I decided to hop back in with April’s Blog Hop featuring Close to My Heart’s Ariana Paper Packet! If you’ve came from Betsy’s Scrap, Stamp Fever!, you are on the right path, if you’ve started here don’t worry we are a circular hop and if you follow the links you will end up right where you started!

Ariana is a beautiful old fashioned floral that is perfect for so many occasions.  With three exclusive colors, Ariana Gray, Ariana Green and Ariana Coral it was a fun paper to work with.  It was also the first time that I had worked with the Cricut Craft room changing sizes and removing cut outs with the hide contour button.

I have really been concentrating on catching up my scrapbooks and although I’ve done lots of pages of fun activities that Miss H and I have done, I have failed to scrapbook the most exciting day of my life – the day nearly 5 years ago that she made her grand entrance!  So the Ariana Papers inspired me to scrapbook our “Sweet Baby Girl”

I started by picking which photos I wanted from that day and realized I must have been more intent on holding our precious little princess than getting pictures!  I then found a layout pattern from Make It From Your Heart Vol. 2 that I thought would showcase the pictures I had.  I highly recommend both volumes of the Make It From You Heart books, both are full of patterns inspired by Jeanette Lynton.

I altered the pattern just a bit by bordering the floral section with one border cut easily with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, cutting the pennant shape and filling in it’s lacy end.  I also chose to add the title area where the pattern indicated an area to journal.

I wanted to give a close up of both a banner and a heart border that were cut in Ariana Green and backed with Ariana Coral.  Although they are different the hearts tie them together and what better way to express the love of a new baby!

The last thing that I’d like to highlight is how important it is to document the details.  I go back and forth between computer and hand-written storytelling.  I finished off the journal card with a pink bow from the Ariana assortment.

I’ll be featuring more artwork with Ariana through out the month, so I hope you’ll come back and visit, but for now please visit Patricia’s Creative Corner – she’s “Down Under” but if you follow the link you can get there in a hop, skip and a jump it will be worth your time as she does some amazing artwork!
