Thank goodness it’s Friday and time for another Color Dare! Are you having fun playing along with our challenges? Color Dare #202 had me stumped…browns + Colonial White.
I’m not much of a neutral’s girl – I need that pop of color in my life! But after a little thought and some help from a friend we sketched out a card that turned out pretty darn good.
I started by pulling out all my brown inks and paper fundamentals and although this stamp set is intended for use with some blue & green (Go ‘Hawks) I thought it might work for this challenge!
I was inspired by a scrapbook layout in the Seasonal Expressions 2 and started cutting banners from the Artistry Cricut Cartridge. I thought I’d just go for broke and started stamping the word FOOTBALL down the side in all the browns – it sort of gave it a ombre look. I stamped the player and then fussy cut the football…I tried it at several places and decided I liked it down near the banners best. To finish it off I layered a strip of bronze shimmer trim across the top of the banners.
Make sure you take a minute to check out what the rest of the Design Team has done for the Color Dare. Leave me a little love while you’re here and make sure to play along too! Even if you don’t have a blog you can leave your entry on our Facebook Page.
Thanks for stopping by!
Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! We will be featuring June’s SOTM, which is Ice Cream Dream. If you have come here from the Stampologist Paige Dolecki , you are on the right path! This month we have 50 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using June’s SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. Blog hopping is simple to do – just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Let’s get started!
I have been waiting patiently for June to arrive. This is by far my favorite Stamp of the Month Set. It brings back fond childhood memories of getting quarters from my mom’s boyfriend (whom later became my step-dad for 40 years of my life) so that I could run out and meet the ice-cream truck. I wanted to do a banner, but wasn’t sure what I wanted it to say so I settled on “sweet”, I’m going to hang this in my new craft room once it’s finished.
I put both the Cricut Art Philosophy and Artfully Sent cartridges to work on this banner. I used Crystal Blue C/S and the blue dots is from the Wanderful Collection. The letters were cut in Gypsy C/S. I pre-cut each piece in White Daisy and then decided to go back and do some layering. The large banner is layered once and the Dot B&T has two pieces of white layered to give it thickness without using foam tape. I then sponged all the edges, added a few pieces of bling to each banner piece and tied it all together with White Ribbon (which is actually from CTMH although it’s long retired) – who remembers the ribbon rounds? I really had fun putting this all together, although I didn’t think I was ever going to get the glue and ink from my fingers.
Now “hop” on over to Michelle Loncar’s blog where you’ll find some more sweet artwork! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Remember, the June SOTM is only available until 30th of June! Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount!
I am so excited to be selected as the Guest Designer for this weeks Color Dare of Juniper, Canary, Ruby and White Daisy – you might say I’m tickled pink!
I am going on my 10th year (July) with Close to My Heart and although I haven’t participated in the Color My Heart Color Dare for long, it’s a challenge I’ve followed for a while so when I was given the extra little push to try it out I threw my hat in the ring.
It took me five tries to come up with a card that I loved…these colors kept speaking Christmas to me, but luckily now I’m ahead of the game when December rolls around! I was inspired by this card I found on Pinterest by Shana Gaff, but decided to put my own spin on it.
I love that the Art Philosophy cartridge will cut a banner card (p29) and then all the little pieces that go along too! I had quite the collection to put away when I was finished (oh who am I joking, it’s all still there!)
Here’s your shopping list:

I’d like to encourage you to take the Color Dare Challenge…it’s such a fun place to play.
We are heading to the lake to spend a few hours with a dear friend and I wanted to take a long a little hostess gift. She is always so gracious to let us just come when we want and enjoy her beautiful view.
I was inspired by a banner from consultant Julie Wheaton and decided that the best honor would be to lift her idea.
The Freedom and Rocket are both cut from the Artbooking Cartridge. I tied it all up with Ruby Chevron Ribbon. I’m so excited with how it turned out, I might be doing one for every holiday!
Enjoy your Independence Day!
