Special to Me – Color Dare #243

Happy Friday! Can you believe we are almost half way through May and it’s time for the Color Dare again?  This week the Color My Heart Color Dare is featuring the colors:  Blosson, Raspberry, Lagoon, Black, White Daisy & Silver.

My little 4X4 card is just small enough to stick in a computer bag to be found at a later date letting someone know he’s special to me!  I stamped the M sized Dandy stamp on my background and then layered my sentiment on circles I cut with our new thin cuts, a banner cut from our silver shimmer trim finished things off.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

I hope you all have a terrific Mother’s Day Weekend!

Rock & Roll Dragonfly – Color Dare #236

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Pacifica, Emerald, Black & White.

I love these deep rich jewel tones, quite different than all the pinks, oranges and lavender I’ve been creating with lately.  My card was quite simple and I used an old favorite rock & roll technique on my dragonfly.

I took a close up so you could maybe see a little better.  First I inked it in black and stamped it and used the thin cut to die cut, then I inked him all up in Emerald and just rolled the tips of the wings in Pacifica die cut and then cut the wings apart and used a tiny bit of foam tape to mount them to the black body.  I finished it off with a couple of black dots on the ends of the wing.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

#True Love

If you are familiar with social media – you know that hashtags are a big deal, so I couldn’t resist using the #true love sentiment on this cute 4X4 card perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Hashtag
noun
  1.  (on social media sites such as Twitter) a word or phrase preceded by a hash or pound sign (#) and used to identify messages on a specific topic.

There is no doubt that I have fallen in love with the True Love Operation Smile stamp set.  If you have not added this set to your collection, I really encourage you to – not just because it’s adorable, but because it benefits Operation Smile.  Close To My Heart is donating seven dollars from the purchase of each True Love stamp set to Operation Smile.

I chose to start with a base of Raspberry which I embossed with the heart embossing folder (now retired) layered a piece of black cardstock and the image stamped on white daisy which I colored in with my ShinHan markers.  I then stamped a scrap of white daisy with raspberry ink and used the new circle thin-cuts to cut it.  I sponged the edges and popped it up with some 3D foam tape.  Cute Valentine complete in less time than it took for you to read my blog today!

Since August 1st, 2016 – YOU, my customers have donated over $130 to help change the life of a child in personal donations and the purchase of this stamp set.  I’ve decided to sweeten the pot a little further.  When you purchase the True Love stamp set through my website from today thru February 13th I will match that $7 donation to Operation Smile.  For as little as $240 you can provide a life changing smile in the life of a child.

Metallics – Color Dare #222

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the metallics with black, white or colonial white.

I had so much fun making this card and putting the metallics together.  I started by stamping the flowers from the December Stamp of the Month in Versamark and embossing in both silver and gold.  I stamped them separately embossed in one color and then stamped again and embossed in the other color.  I was careful to remove all loose embossing powder so that I wouldn’t end up with any specks on my black cardstock.  The top part of my card is a piece of the vellum and ribbon from the Uptown Fundamentals collection

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

Not for Halloween- Color Dare #217

Happy Friday!  I must say, Friday’s are one of my favorite days…it kicks off a brand new week of Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.    This week the challenge is to use Sunset, Sweet Leaf, Black and White Daisy in your creations.

I wanted to show that these colors can be used for more than Halloween, although I thought a sweet leaf colored witch would be appropriate.  I love the So Many Smiles stamp set and decided to do some random stamping.  I mounted the image on black card stock and then put a piece of orange shimmer trim along the top and three green triangles along the bottom.  The sentiment block was cut with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.  I noticed after putting my card together that it’s very similar to one I saved on Pinterest from DT Member Cat Nowak.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

Thanks so much for stopping by and spending a little bit of your Friday with me.  I hope you’ll come back again soon!

A Little Birthday – Color Dare #214

Welcome back to another Color My Heart Color Dare challenge.  This week we are challenging you to use Black, Thistle, Pear and White Daisy in your creations.

I think I’m stuck on Halloween this year – those cute little monsters really grabbed my heart, but since my birthday card stash is a bit low I decided to reach for birthday stamps instead.

My card makes use of the new Uptown Fundamental and Whimsy Fundamental paper packets.  I found some new sketches to try over on Pinterest, I usually stick to our pattern books, but this pattern looked fun. If you’ve followed me for any length of time you know that I’m bow challenged so I want to again share a “stamping technique” that I learned from The Wizards Hangout.  You see that bow is actually formed from the button and piece of twine – Vicki has complete instructions on her blog if you click on the link to The Wizards Hangout you’ll be taken right to the instructions and of course an adorable card.

I’m going to link up to the following challenges:

Do you have any fun challenges that you participate in?  Leave me a comment with the link to the challenge blog and I’ll come check it out.

Thanks for stopping by remember to link up your creations at Color My Heart Color Dare before Thursday.

Unabashadly Stamp Lifted – Color Dare #212

Happy Friday…it’s time for a new Color Dare and if purples are your thing this is your week!  Color Dare #212 challenges you to use White Daisy, Black, Eggplant, Thistle and Pansy…sounds like a fun challenge to me!

I was spending  wasting some time on Pinterest when I ran across this card which I fell in love with for several reasons #1 it uses hexagons, #2 it has a simple sentiment #3 I could easily duplicate it.

My hexagons are stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento and Pansy.  When stamping with solid stamps it’s best to have your Versamat turned to the spongy side so you get good coverage.  The sentiment was stamped with Eggplant – it’s such a nice deep purple and that sentiment love the combined script & print!!  The flower is stamped in Thistle – it’s probably my favorite of all our purples.  I wanted to keep the look clean and simple so I just added touches of purple accent (a glitter gem in the center of the flower and a glitter heart at the end of the sentiment.

Now hop on over to the Color My Heart Color Dare Blog where you will find some other wonderful cards from the Design Team.  I love that we all have such different ideas.  Won’t you take some time and play along?  It’s super easy to link up your creation – all the instructions are right there on the sidebar of the blog.

Thanks for stopping by…see you next week.

It’s Lisa’s Challenge – Color Dare #209

Welcome to another Friday at the Color My Heart Color Dare!  Remember 9 challenges ago when we celebrated turning 200 and the grand prize was a chance to pick your own color challenge!  Well, here it is Color Dare 209 is Lisa’s winning Color Combo – Gold, Sorbet, Pomegranate, Pear, Black and White Daisy!

My initial thought when I saw these colors was “you’ve got to be kidding me”, but once I started pulling out papers I realized that I really liked them together.

All of the B&T papers our from our newly designed Fundamentals line mounted on Black cardstock mounted to a card base.  The Gold Glitter Strip runs the width of the card and is topped off by a sentiment stamped in Pear and Black mounted on Pear cardstock.  To finish it off I added three Green Enamel triangles.

I hope you’ll jump over to the Color Dare’s blog and take a look what the other Design Team Members have created.  I also have high hopes that you’ll take a few minutes to participate.  You don’t even have to have a blog to enter – PINTEREST works just fine!

Thanks for stopping by…leave me a comment about what you think about these colors.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend!

It’s Magical – Color Dare 201

Hi and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring colors from the Magical Papers – Black, Cranberry, Crystal Blue, Honey, Sapphire, Whisper and White Daisy.

If you know me well, or maybe even a little bit, you know that I am a Disney fanatic.  I don’t think he’ll ever admit it, but I think a little bit of the bug may have bitten my Wrangler wearing sweetheart!  Playing with these colors was not hard for me…deciding what I wanted to feature on my blog was!

I finally settled on this Thank You card that we’re creating at my Card Class this month.  The Magical Papers are so much fun to play with.  If I had to pick a favorite it would be a three way tie between the multi-colored hearts, the bold cranberry polka dots (it’s so Minnie) and the black camera’s which I didn’t use on this card.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

Color My Heart #143 – Wedding Bling

Oh how I love Black and White with a touch of bling…in the case of the Color My Heart Dare #143 that bling is Gold.

I needed a wedding card, but also had a little girl watching over my shoulder impatiently telling me what I should do differently, I sent her gardening with her granddad but that didn’t last long so I knew my time was limited.  I turned to the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge and found this cute wedding cake.  I don’t care much for the 5 X 7 cards so I sized it down to 5.5″, then I decided I didn’t want an all black card so I cut it apart and it became the front panel of a white card.  I then cut the ribbons from a piece of Gold Glitter Paper and glued them on with my glue pen.  Super simple.

The inside was stamped with Congratulations and then the wedding ring icon from the same cartridge was cut at 4.25 and mounted underneath.

I cherish my wedding cards and just recently went back and read all the kind wishes.  I hope you have been inspired to take a look at black, white and gold and see what you can make today.
