Double Trouble #17

Did you hear the news?  Twisted Sister made the nice list…thank you all for helping.  Now it’s time to bake some cookies for Santa!

Trouble Maker has the perfect recipe to get us started!

Recipe.” This time the recipe can be used for any occasion – birthday, thank you, get well, wedding and even Christmas if you still need that last minute card or tag.

From: The Kitchen of Double Trouble Challenge Blog
Servings: Unlimited fun
Ingredients:
3 – Embellishments
2 – Colors
1 – Sentiment or image (stamped or digital OK)
Directions: You may use more than the recipe ingredients stipulate, but you need to include a required minimum of each ingredient. The ingredients may be included in the image or an add-on. But don’t stop here…you might want to consider special topping ingredients using “Bright and Bold” or “Soft and Pastel
“.

Double Dare is asking you to link up with Color My Heart Color Dare.  Make sure that you are following their rules and using either a Bright & Bold or Soft & Pastel palette!

Twisted Sister is asking you to include something that you’d find or make in the kitchen – remember this is just an optional twist, but it makes Twisted Sister so happy to see you participate that she’s going to pick her favorite card and send you a treat too!

I decided to do a side step card.  I included images from 2 different stamp sets and thought including a rolling pin & measuring cup were a good mix with my Gingerbread cookies.  For embellishments I used silver sequins which I colored with my Shin Han marker, sparkles and tassels that I made from clover and pixie CS and the new Fancy Borders thin cuts.

I hope you’ll want to join the fun at Double Trouble so hopefully you’ll make the nice list too!

Season of Magic – Color Dare #320

It’s Friday and time for another Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.  This week the Design Team is asking you to create with Kraft, New England Ivy, Candy Apple and an option to add Gold.

These colors automatically spoke Christmas to me.  Adding Kraft at Christmas is one of my favorite things to do…I guess it goes back to brown paper packages tied up with strings!

I’ve been sorting through retired stamps trying to find the perfect stamp set to make Christmas cards with…although I’ve found lots of stamps that I forgot I had and discovered a have A LOT of wreath stamps.  I still haven’t made up my mind for my personal Christmas cards.  I guess I better get on it!

I found this Season of Magic wreath and thought it had the perfect combination of elements to use with this weeks Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.  My Kraft CS is Neenah 80lb Smooth Desert Storm.  I like that this is a lighter Kraft color and the texture of the paper makes a perfect card base.  I stamped my wreath in Toffee and added boughs and holly berries in New England Ivy & Candy Apple.  I layered the image panel on a piece of NEI cardstock and then finished it off with a few banners which I topped with a bow made from NEI twine.  I scattered a few bitty sparkles just to give it a frosty look.

Now it’s your turn…you can head over to the Color My Heart Color Dare and find the rules to enter and join in the fun.  While your there make sure you visit the Design Team members pages and let them know that you LOVE their projects.

I hope you’ll take the time to leave me some love as well…as a matter of fact, I’d like to know your favorite Christmas Color Combination I look forward to reading your answers.

Double Trouble 14

Well, looks like we all survived our lucky number week and it’s time for more fun!!!

I just found out that I made the Naughty List…seems that November rolls around and I’m always trying to explain to Santa! I’m sure it’s who I hang out with so if you include something that “hangs” – Christmas Lights, Ornament, Stocking, etc in your design your sure to get an extra entry into our drawing for a bag of things and might just make the nice list too!

Double Trouble Challenge #14 has us pairing up with Try Stamping on Tuesday – they have a fun Tic Tac Tuesday challenge that Double Dare has asked us to link up to! Trouble Maker had already asked us to do a holiday card so I killed two birds with one stone.

I chose the diagonal row starting in the upper left hand corner:  Green, Trees & Plaid.  I liked the combination of black & white plaid with the bright willow green.  It had a bit of a modern Christmas twist.  I kept my stamping simple using a retired CTMH Stamp of the Month from 2012 a tree branch with an ornament for my “hanging option”

Here’s the Tic Tac Tuesday board…I can’t wait to see what row you choose.

Make sure you pop on over to Double Trouble to see what the heck is going on – we had a Crazy Cousin (Guest Designer) stop by for the month of November and she’s bringing all kinds of goodies with her.

Anything But Basic Christmas – Color Dare #270

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Mink, Heather, Espresso, White Daisy and a Red of your choice along with Optional Gold.

I chose Pomegranate for my red and used B&T from the Basics Fundamentals Pack to give my Mink Base some texture.  I used a wreath, poinsettia, pinecone and snowflake from the Cricut Flower Market cartridge to bring my card some holiday cheer.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

Rework Wednesday

It looks like winter just might be on the way the wind has been howling all night long and it’s COLD!!!  We also had a little dusting of snow, nothing like my eastern Washington winters, but hey it was SNOW!!!

Today I’m excited to bring you a new series Rework Wednesday!  I receive so many amazing cards from consultants that inspire my creativity, but sometimes I just use them as a jumping off point.  I might like the concept, but just need to make a tweak here and there – use a different paper, change the colors, modify the size, etc.  I thought this would be fun for you to see how some of my cards come to life.

The first card I’m going to feature was made by my downline Stephanie Capelli.  Stephanie is married to my husband’s nephew and creates amazing cards…her style is usually the exact opposite of mine and we both recently participated in the November Stamp of the Month swap.

This is Stephanie’s card.  The things I love about it are that she used a base of Kraft cardstock, kept the images simple, added just a tiny bit of bling and oh yes, the size – I LOVE tiny cards.

Here’s mine.  Although I love tiny cards, sometimes I want a larger format so the first thing I did was turn this into a standard 4.25 X 5.5 card  I kept the Kraft base and added a strip of Fundamentals paper and a strip of Gold Glitter paper.  I layered the images on a solid piece of cardstock and popped the entire panel up.  I kept the images the same and even added the same bitty sparkles.

I hope you enjoy rework Wednesday…see you soon!

It seemed like the perfect combination of Christmas Colors to me.  I’d also seen this fun Post-It holder on Pinterest – watched the video, jotted some notes, but apparently forgot to pin the post – I’ll keep looking and hopefully find it again so I can share the directions for making it.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

A Jar of Cheer

I remember rows of  Mason Jars in my grandma’s pantry when I was a child…now they are probably used more for decoration than for preserving fruit.  I was excited to find a “jar” as one of the containers on our new Flower Market Cricut Cartridge.

This fun little 4.5 X 4.5 card is made with Kraft Cardstock and the band is from the City Sidewalks paper packet.  The White panel has been embossed with the Snowflakes Embossing folder.  All the elements from the jar were cut from the Cricut Flower Market Collection.  I love the two toned holly leaves.  I’ve used them on a couple of cards – you’ll see another one soon!

Thank you for stopping by…you can always find all the supplies that I used to make my card by visiting my webpage at www.papercraftingprincess.ctmh.com.  So that you don’t miss any of my other upcoming City Sidewalks artwork make sure you click on the follow me button on the sidebar of my blog.

Yuletide Joy – October SOTM

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring October’s SOTM, which is Yultide Joy, a set of seven stamps.  If you have come here from Nina’s Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog:  http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

This month we have almost 40 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do – just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

I reached for the Oh Deer paper packet for this card.  The soft colors of this paper packet, Bamboo, Cocoa, Colonial White, Dessert Sand, Fern, Juniper, Seaglass, Slate and Whisper and White Daisy paired with some Ruby cardstock really gives it a wintry feel.  I chose to use the Star image from the Stamp of the Month which coordinates with a Cricut Art Philosophy cut.  The Sea Glass star was cut out and then embossed in Gold and popped up onto a Dessert Sand tag.  I added a few accents – a piece of Sea Glass Glitter paper under the Zip Strip from Oh Deer and then a piece of White & Gold Twine doubled and tied in a knot to hold the tag on, I finished off the tag with two small Red Enamel Gems.

Now “Hop” on over to Terrie’s Blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Remember, the October SOTM is only available untilOctober!  Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to see how you can get this stamp set at a discount!
