I’m really trying to get my birthday stash replenished and with a little push decided to take a gander over at the Close to My Heart Color Dare – I was pleasantly surprised with the Pixie, Glacier, Thistle and White Daisy that I found waiting for me. Now for a sketch…I wanted to try something new so I took a turn at Freshly Made Sketches, once more I hit the jackpot!
I had a lot of fun pairing the Glacier Houndstooth paper from Zoe with the Thistle Floral from Penelope – now for that Pixie! I used the Brushstrokes stamp for a big base of Pixie, stamped the sentiment in Thistle and started adding embellishments from the Penelope Complements.
Here’s a close up!
This card was lots of fun and fairly quick to put together. I challenge you to take a look around the web for inspiration and stop by the Close to My Heart Color Dare. It’s really fun to make a project when all the hard parts are figured out for you!
Thanks for stopping by!
I spent a lovely 4 days on the Oregon Coast, but it was back to my happy place this morning when I made enough room on my craft desk to sit down and make a birthday card for my aunt!
I decided that I was going to go for the gusto with this card and combine the #jrlcreativechallenge with Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #107 and Color My Heart Color Date #142.
I started with pulling all the ink pads of the color dare out of my organizer so I didn’t forget anything. I decided to use the Lagoon cardstock for a base and used both the Zig Zag and Dot embossing folders to give it texture. With the base for the AHSC being 4 separate pieces this came together in a fun way.
I then stamped the flowers and leaves from the Lovely Birthday stamp set in Pear, Glacier and Sunset, embossed them with the dots folder for texture and then fussy cut them. I had a Smoothie Mini-Medley Accessory Kit left (I knew there was a reason I hoarded things) and pulled a button out to add to the stamped sentiment banner. I also added sparkles to the flower centers and the vine because a little bling never hurt anything!
Don’t forget to make the inside pretty too…in this case I added a matching flower to the lower corner.
Thanks for stopping by today…it’s good to be home and crafting again!
Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop! We will be featuring April’s SOTM, which is Typed Note, a set of 19 stamps. If you have come here from Brenda’s Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around. If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog: http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.
I have been waiting to use this stamp of the month since the idea book was released, however when I actually put ink to paper I just thought…WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? So I turned to Pinterest where I found this card and then things just started clicking. I ended up making 3 cards and got three different answers for which one I should feature here so I decided to post all three!
Miss B’s vote was for the colorful card made with the Chalk It Up papers. I think it was the puffies butterfly (now retired) that swayed her vote.
The mister of the household voted for the black card. The notebook paper is stamped from the Artbooking Cricut Collection stamp set and the tag is embossed with a number and letter combination I felt that the card needed some texture, the ribbon comes from a retired Black Mini Medley’s collection. All of the pieces were mounted to a piece of Black Fundamentals Paper.
And now for my favorite! I started with a PML card from the Hopscotch collection. I mounted it to a piece of Glacier Cardstock which I had embossed with the Arrows Embossing Folder I also rounded the corners so it would match the soft look of the PML card. I stamped the typewriter 3 times (twice just the paper portion) so I could add some extra pieces of paper to my note. I finished it off with some Black Arrow Washi Tape and Gold Sequins.
Which one is your favorite? Leave me a comment by April 15th and I will randomly draw from all comments to receive all three cards.
Now, hop on over to Chris Robertson’s Blog and see what she has going on in her creative life.

I knew it was a lost cause to strictly focus on scrapbooking…making cards is definitely my first love. It is so fun to focus on The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and since they are sneaking up on #100, I decided I better continue my streak of playing along.
This is the sketch for this week
I haven’t done much with the Pretty Petals stamp set so I thought it would be a nice chance to play along and I had some inspiration from the Annual Inspirations Idea Book for my color scheme of Glacier, Sorbet, Gold Rush and Slate.
I stamped the Chicken Wire with White Pigment Ink to give just a little bit of texture. I found a piece of Slate Ribbon in my stash and tied a bow (stop with the bows already Michelle, LOL!) My flowers except the top one are popped up with some thin 3D foam tape (love this stuff).
I snapped a quick photo of the inside where I repeated the color combo…now it’s time to get this off in the mail.
If you haven’t stopped by the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog, I highly recommend that you do. There are terrific sketches and the DT is magnificent. Even if you don’t play along look for some inspiration!

I have been wanting to play with this stamp set for a while and when I saw the #colorcrush posted at the Close to My Heart Instagram page I immediately thought of the beach!
Champagne, Glacier, Smoothie and Sorbet came together nicely with a calming feel – depending on the stamps it would be perfect for a sympathy card or a fun summer beach layout.
The clam shell appears on the inside corner of the card and was first stamped using a base of Champagne and then I layered on the other colors with a sponge dauber, I really like how it turned out.
Thanks for stopping by.
I recently learned that Close to My Heart posts a weekly color challenge on Instagram so I anxiously awaited for Wednesday to come this week to see the #colorcrush posting.
Barn Red, Glacier, Lagoon, Olive, Flaxen
I had to give this one some thought – it’s a beautiful fall palette, but I wanted something different.
The Better With A Friend exclusive hostess stamp set was sitting on my desk so I grabbed it – along with the Wishes pattern book to pull this off. I chose a 5 X 7 card pattern and then went to work putting the colors together. The top paper is a piece of Glacier from the Whimsy Fundamentals paper, I used the zip strip from the Pathfinding papers for the Olive and the Flaxen C/S backs the shopping girl, the glitter paper represents the lagoon to add a bit of sparkle and I sponged the white papers with lagoon ink and then stamped the sentiment in Barn Red.
I don’t know when I’ve had so much fun putting colors together and going outside my normal “box”.
What would you do with these colors? Leave me a comment with a link to your creation!
Let me introduce you to the five brand new colors in the Whimsy Family…Flaxen, Glacier, Pixie, Canary and Thistle.
I love it when Close to My Heart introduces new colors to their pallet, even though it means a few favorites had to retire. I think I am most excited about Pixie and Thistle don’t they look just perfect for a Princess?
I can’t wait to show you the new things I’ve made with them.
Check back often!
