Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare. This week we are featuring the colors: Willow, Goldrush, Emerald, Black, Pewter, Pebble, Charcoal and White Daisy.
How are you liking the changes to the Color Dare? Two weeks should give you plenty of time to get a card made and linked up to our challenge.
I did a fun card with the Cats & Bats papers and stamps from the Cats & Bats Scrapbooking Collection. The front of my card is cut down 2 inches which leaves a little bit of the inside of the card peeking through. I used the die cut BOOO! to hid a few of the inside images. Although from the front my BOOO! is stamped in Pebble it was actually layered on a piece of Gold Rush so that adds a bit of intrigue to the inside of the card as well.
OK, now it’s YOUR turn! The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage. Each color dare is open for two weeks so get your cards posted by 9:00 CDT on Thursday, October 5th!
While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!
Thanks for stopping by…have a fantastic weekend!
I checked out a couple of challenges today and found that both the Color Dare and Working 9 to 5 over at Heart to Heart Challenges fit right with the card I needed to make today!
I am just about to burst my buttons today…my son started his first official job! Not to go into the details but this is a major accomplishment and not only did he get a job, but he was offered 4 different jobs and had his pick! Pretty good for someone that had never even interviewed! I wanted him to know that he is “tops” in my book!
The Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge this week is to use Goldrush, Hollyhock, Kraft and Colonial White. I have a MAJOR crush on Kraft cardstock right now so this is right up my alley! I had fun doing some different things with this card – first the base is cut at 9 X 4.25 and then folded at 3.5 (it’s a pattern from the Originals book, but I didn’t turn it into a pocket I left it open)
I layered a piece of Goldrush Fundamentals to the front and then added a piece of Hollyhock C/S. I stamped the “tent” on a piece of Colonial White in Hollyhock and knowing the square was too small stamped in a second time on a scratch piece and fussy cut the top which I paper pieced once everything was in place. I lifted it with thin 3D foam tape to give it just a little dimension.
The sentiment is mounted to the flap area and serves a purpose to hold the card closed. On the inside I stamped an elephant playing with a ball.
In case your wondering my son didn’t run off and join the circus, but I wanted him to know that I want him to have a “ball” at his new job and that I think he’s tops!
Thanks for stopping by today. Check out the other participants at the two challenges and see what you might come up with and enter to have some fun!
I knew it was a lost cause to strictly focus on scrapbooking…making cards is definitely my first love. It is so fun to focus on The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and since they are sneaking up on #100, I decided I better continue my streak of playing along.
This is the sketch for this week
I haven’t done much with the Pretty Petals stamp set so I thought it would be a nice chance to play along and I had some inspiration from the Annual Inspirations Idea Book for my color scheme of Glacier, Sorbet, Gold Rush and Slate.
I stamped the Chicken Wire with White Pigment Ink to give just a little bit of texture. I found a piece of Slate Ribbon in my stash and tied a bow (stop with the bows already Michelle, LOL!) My flowers except the top one are popped up with some thin 3D foam tape (love this stuff).
I snapped a quick photo of the inside where I repeated the color combo…now it’s time to get this off in the mail.
If you haven’t stopped by the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog, I highly recommend that you do. There are terrific sketches and the DT is magnificent. Even if you don’t play along look for some inspiration!
Thanks for stopping by!
Wow…three weeks in a row, I’m pretty sure the moons have aligned!
With my crazy schedule adjusting to a full time 9 year old in my life, I stepped away from Social Media back in October. I miss the connection that I had with my friends through Facebook, but also realized that there are other ways to keep in touch. I did however catch the Instagram bug and have been enjoying posting pictures of my art at Papercrafting_Princess.
This past week Close to My Heart posted a #colorcrush to use Pixie/Smoothie/Sorbet/Goldrush so I thought I’d do a little combining of two challenges bringing some color to Sketch #96 at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.
I had fun playing with this design. I embossed the Pixie cardstock base with the dots embossing folder, then cut a scalloped design with the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. I loved the X pattern in the strip and after looking at it mounted on the pink decided to add a Smoothie piece behind it that would bring out the texture a bit more. The flower is from a stamp set that has got a lot of use (I made 100 invitations for a ladies tea at church a few years ago with it). The center of the flower is stamped with Pixie and unlike the larger flower it is not two stepped so I drew over the pink stitch line with my black journaling pen.
Yes, that’s real honest to goodness sunshine streaming through the window onto my card. You can see in the second photo that I took a second strip and sponged some ink on the inside. I started with just smudging Smoothie with a sponge and then went back and added Sorbet and Goldrush to give it a gradient look.
I’m excited to get this in the mail and surprise someone with a little cheer…my Happy Mail Campaign is well underway!
Thanks for stopping by.
