Graduation Day

High School graduation season is upon us.  I remember being so excited to close that chapter on my life and although I wouldn’t do my high school years over it’s fun to reflect how much my life has grown through the years.  This weekend we are celebrating our niece and I know this girl is going to go far!

I wanted her card to be fun and reflect that what she’s accomplished is a BIG DEAL!  I lined up the white panel in my Misti stamping tool and then started placing the stamps from the High Five stamp set randomly.  I inked everything up with black ink and then rearranged the stamps and pretty soon my panel was all filled up.  I then stamped the mortar board in black and colored it red to represent her school colors.

I learned a little trick with my banner – I layered the white piece over the black (centered) and then cut them both at the same time with my Thin Cuts Banner set.  I then just arranged them how I wanted them and cut off the excess white.  I’ll post a short video in the near future – it’s the best way I’ve found to get perfect matching cuts.

This card is suitable for the Double Trouble Challenge because it uses no patterned paper – just what I made with the sentiment stamping and of course all the fun diecuts means I’m entering my card over at the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge to use die cuts.

If you missed the High Five Stamp set before it retired I have an extra brand new one for sale.  Just message me.

Do you remember your school colors?  What are some of your memories from your graduation?  Leave me a comment – I love to read your stories.

Hats Off!

Today I decided to bring you a quick graduation card.  I used the retired A Graduate stamp set.  I don’t know a lot of graduates so this stamp set will probably make cards for every future graduate I know.  The tumbling mortar boards remind me of when they all get tossed in the air at the end of graduation (I myself didn’t toss mine because I was afraid I’d lose it!)  I don’t know if I thought I’d ever wear it again or what!

I saved the “wow factor” for the inside.  I made a pop-up card…the old fashioned way instead of setting up my Cricut.  The “hooray banner” is from a retired Hostess set which I mounted on Red and Black c/s.  I then stamped the 2015 from the A Graduate stamp set.  I wasn’t happy with how plain it looked so I stamped a mortar board on a scrap and fussy cut it and popped it on with a piece of thin 3D foam tape.

“Hats Off” to you for stopping by…I hope you’ll come back soon!
