There is no better way to start a Monday than with a little trouble – A Double Trouble Papercrafting Challenge that is!
Our challenge for the next two weeks (10/21-11/3) is a Halloween Color Challenge with the fun twist of adding something that flies, you can also get extra points in our prize draw by linking to our Challenge Partner Crafting Happiness . You can find all the details and link up your creations by visiting our challenge blog,
My card features a little old and a little new. I used the Seasonal Mix Ins selecting Julep (Green), Purple & Orange from Trouble Makers Rainbow of Bats. I decided that a bat would represent my flying object, but then I took it a step farther and my wiper card makes the sentiment “fly” as well.
Don’t forget to link up and join the fun…everyone needs a little Double Trouble in their life!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. I think it’s because my mom was so into it. She would dress up as a witch and greet the trick or treaters…she even scared my little brother one year.
I spent about an hour on Sunday afternoon in my Craft Coop playing with some scraps of Cats & Bats. Those papers aren’t going to use themselves afterall!
Both of these patterns come from the latest Make It From Your Heart Volume. I wanted the one on the left to look like a big moon was behind the cat. I actually stamped the cat in Pebble Ink on the Light Side of Pebble CS.
The card on the right was made in honor of my friend Debi G. (rumor has it she saves all my cards) and this is her favorite card pattern. I thought all the spiderwebs looked lonely without a little spider hanging amidst the banners.
I’m going to defer from cards for a minute and tell you about my friend…Debi and I met through Close to My Heart and she is probably the one that knows my soul inside and out. Whether I’m feeling blue, crazy with anger or just need someone to share a laugh with, Debi is my go-to-gal! The funny thing is when I met Debi (at convention in Dallas) I did not think that she liked me – I was an outsider to her circle…little did she know I would work my way right in that little bitty crack on the stitch line.
I wanted to tell you about Debi because I wanted to share a bit about how CTMH has brought so many amazing people into my life. During the month of August you can join my Close to My Heart team for just $35 AND get $35 in YOUR CHOICE of product. I’d love to chat with you a little more about this fantastic opportunity. Please message me if you are interested.
Double, Double, Toil & Trouble Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble!
Can you believe Halloween is just around the corner…I seriously wonder where this year has gone…ok, seriously the last two weeks because it’s already time for another Double Trouble posting! I’m late and I’m going to be in more trouble than I already am!!!
I think Halloween is one of my favorite holidays…we have a large pumpkin carving party and I love to decorate for fall. I tend to like the cute things about Halloween and not the scary so I was thrilled when Trouble Maker challenged us to “Skip the Tricks and Share the Treats of Halloween” Share the cute and cheerful side of Halloween or Fall with cute pumpkins, witches & ghosts.
As usual…my partners have “Framed Me” and I need your help! My optional twist is that you include a frame somewhere on your card to help me get out of “trouble”.
Finally…Double Dare has asked up to link up to the Paper Girls Challenge – I hope no one goes cutting them apart – they seem like a nice group of crafters!!!
Well, now all that is out of the way…would you like to see what I’ve been up to?
That’s right, it’s a spooky cute Halloween Card. I started with a Nectarine Base and then added a B&T from the Hello Pumpkin paper packet – I layers on some Willow and Lagoon onto which I had stamped a fence – over the fence I layered a black frame which although you can’t see it well in the picture I painted with my new black shimmer pen! I then layered my sentiment over the top of that. I knew I wanted to include the ghost because the faces of the B&T paper reminded me of a scene in a Casper cartoon where you could only see the faces of the ghosts. Although most ghosts are typically white I stamped mine in Mint and colored it with the clear shimmer brush which has given it the look of being “glow in the dark”
I hope you’ve enjoyed my take on “cute” Halloween and that you’ll pop over to our design page and link up a project…and don’t forget to add a frame!!!
Have you heard that the Great Pumpkin is coming? Instead of sitting in the Pumpkin Patch I spent some time in the Craft Coop and had a fun time making some Halloween cards – you might just find one in your mailbox this week.
All of my cards were made using the Cats & Bats suite. Papers, Card Making and Scrapbooking Stamp Sets and Thin Cuts and Dots. I also used patterns from the Originals Card Confidence Program…this is a MUST HAVE if you are a card maker.
There are over 100 patterns in the Originals Book for all occasions. The full color photos and easy to follow step by step instructions will make this one of your favorite purchases and priced at just $14.95 it will bring you a huge amount of satisfaction. You can click on the link above or the picture of the book to be directed to my webpage.
Thank you for stopping by…I hope you have a very happy Halloween.
Today I have a little treat for you made with the Cats & Bats paper packet. This folding pop up card packs a lot of wow factor – no tricks!
I have to be honest, I’ve had the instructions for this card for about a year, but I was worried that there was too much measuring and I’d not be happy with the results. Sunday afternoon I cut all the pieces and sat down to watch the video one more time through each step I paused the video and followed the instructions. I was feeling some major intimidation, but once I got the mechanism to open and close properly on my first attempt I was a happy girl.
I decorated the front of my card by stamping the cob web from the cats & bats stamp set and adding a creepy spider from the Cricut Artbooking collection I popped it up with a little 3D foam tape and used my gold shimmer brush to give him a little sparkle. I kept the inside simple just lining the panels with B&T paper and adding pieces from the complements pack. On the last panel I cut down a PML card for the sentiment. One more use for those Picture My Life Cards!
Want to learn to make a folding pop up card? Join me for my “Just the Basics” card class on Thursday, November 2nd where we’ll go beyond the basics with this fun fold.
Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare. This week we are featuring the colors: Willow, Goldrush, Emerald, Black, Pewter, Pebble, Charcoal and White Daisy.
How are you liking the changes to the Color Dare? Two weeks should give you plenty of time to get a card made and linked up to our challenge.
I did a fun card with the Cats & Bats papers and stamps from the Cats & Bats Scrapbooking Collection. The front of my card is cut down 2 inches which leaves a little bit of the inside of the card peeking through. I used the die cut BOOO! to hid a few of the inside images. Although from the front my BOOO! is stamped in Pebble it was actually layered on a piece of Gold Rush so that adds a bit of intrigue to the inside of the card as well.
OK, now it’s YOUR turn! The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage. Each color dare is open for two weeks so get your cards posted by 9:00 CDT on Thursday, October 5th!
While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!
Thanks for stopping by…have a fantastic weekend!
Welcome to the Joyful Stars September Blog Hop! If you are arriving here from my friend and fellow Color Dare DT member Michelle Loncar’s Blog you are on the right path…if you’re starting here, that’s fine too. We are a small circular hop and eventually you’ll end up right back where you started just by clicking the links at the ends of the posts.
I haven’t had much time to create this month (my little 50th Birthday cruise to Alaska ended with pneumonia 😦 but I snuck out the Craft Coop last night so I have a project to share)
I know it’s only September, but I am thinking Halloween and the Cats and Bats Paper is fulfilling every need I have. I loved both stamp sets that coordinate with the papers so much and they even have matching thin cuts so yep – I own them both!!! You can find the Cats and Bats papers and stamp sets in the new Holiday Expressions or on my web page https://papercraftingprincess.closetomyheart.com/retail/search.aspx?searchvalue=cats+%26+bats
My 3X6 card is layered on a base of Tangerine – the gray layer is actually one of the PML cards that has been cut down to size. Not a pocket scrapbooker – no worries these cards make perfect additions to your cards too! I cut the BOOO! from a piece of the Cats & Bats B&T that is an ombre black/gray combo. I popped up a spider and added a sprinkle of Cats & Bats Embellishments and my card is done.
Please don’t forget that Close to My Heart has released a special non-commissioned stamp set for the natural disasters occurring in many of the states and Canada.
100% of the proceeds from the Stronger Together stamp set will be donated to the Red Cross. You can order this set from your local Close to My Heart Consultant or directly from my webpage by clicking here.
Now it’s time to hop over to my buddy Debi Brile’s blog. I hope you enjoy the blog hop – come back and tell me what you think of the projects

Where’d ya get those peepers? Did you read that first line to the tune of the song?
It’s probably no surprise that I love Halloween. I always explain that I don’t like the creepy, scary Halloween…just the fun stuff – cute kids dressed in their favorite super hero and all the little princesses.
- What: Jeepers Creepers It’s Not Just Halloween Card Class
- When: Thursday, October 6th 10AM or 6PM
- Cost: $15
- RSVP and PREPAY by September 20th
Even though it’s been labeled a Halloween themed paper, this Jeepers Creepers paper is perfect for all seasons.
It’s Monday so that means it’s time to reveal a new sketch at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Next to Christmas, Halloween is probably one of my favorite holidays to make cards for. I’ve never been into the “scary” side of things…more cutesy with a few bats and spiders thrown in along the way.
The first thing I did with this sketch is give it a twist. I’ve kept my packet of Nevermore paper on my desk for creating since the first of the month. I’m finding if I focus on one paper each month it is nearly completely gone by the end of the month. It also challenged me this month to make non-Halloween items with this terrific paper packet.
I wanted to get a good stash of Halloween cards ready to go in the mail next month so I looked at the new Halloween themed keys on the Artistry cartridge and found this terrific bat overlay – doesn’t it look like they are flying in front of a moon?
Items I used:
- Nevermore Paper Packet X7198B
- Magic Potions My Acrylix Stamp Set C1509
- Artistry Cartridge Z3167
- Green & Black Shimmer Trim Z3087/Z1809
- Shin Han Markers
- Enamel Stars – retired (you could purchase white and color them, which is what I’ll do when I deplete my supply)
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ll take the time to participate in the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and on Wednesday you can visit the blog to see all the terrific artwork from the Design Team that is sure to keep you inspired.
