Sending Love – Color Dare 208

Happy Friday!  It’s time for another color challenge at the Color My Heart Color Dare.  Color Dare 208 offers a fun mix of Pixie, Thistle, Juniper, Lagoon and White Daisy.  Make sure you drop by and link up your creation – all the details on how to do so are on our homepage.

I had fun playing with these colors as I have a special, pink loving, girl starting kindergarten this year and I’m going to send her a little extra love.

This retired stamp set paired perfectly with some new papers from the Whimsy Fundamentals collection and a strip of Thistle cardstock.  My Shin-Han markers made a quick work of coloring and I blended Warm Gray, Pastel Green and Turquoise Blue to get a close match to our Juniper.  I LOVE our markers for just that reason.

What will you do with this color pallet?  Don’t forget to stop by the Color My Heart Color Dare Blog to see what the other DT members have created.

Birthdays Galore

What happens when an only child marries a man with 6 siblings?  Your birthday list multiples to sometimes what seems an unmanageable amount.

When I turned the calendar to June and noticed that there are 8 birthdays to celebrate I nearly ran back to bed and pulled the covers over my head, instead I headed to the craft room and started thinking about the 8 people (6 of which are male) celebrating their special days.

I pulled out my Wishes Book for these first two cards. The Robot is from a retired CTMH set.  I started with using a panel of Slate Fundamentals and layered a strip of Arrow Washi Tape white cardstock then layered on Crystal Blue C/S under the white panel stamped with the Robot which I colored with the Shin Han Markers.  I don’t ever give much thought to my coloring I just grab what I’m in the mood for and somehow it just comes together.

I love the little monsters in the Love Ya Silly stamp set.  If I can find a reason to use them I take advantage of it and since I’m making “male” birthday cards my collection of flowers and frilliness just didn’t fly.  I took some extra time with the Confetti Wishes B&T to make sure that I got a full row of candles and the words celebrate.

My last card is actually my favorite of this bunch.  It’s for a great nephew who’s at just the right age (I hope) to like airplanes.  I know I’ve seen him carrying cars and trains around.  The layer of Washi Tape along the bottom reminds me of clouds.  I popped up the banner with 3D foam tape to give the card a little dimension.

I’m glad that my husband had a rule before we married of not attending all those birthday parties and it’s my choice to do the cards, it’s done out of love and the hopes of receiving a few birthday cards of my own when my birthday rolls around in August.  Now it’s time to get back to the craft room!

Lifting My Spirits

Some of you may know that there was a new addition to our house last August…she’s my craftin’ buddy, cookie baking, homework helping, hair pulling out, chaos causing adorable granddaughter.  Some of you know her as Miss B others as Brooke.  I told my husband that I’ve created a monster and I’m pretty sure that her dad doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into when she comes to live with him, but she’s leaving us soon and I’ve had a terrific group of friends trying to lift my spirits.

Lifting Spirits Z Card

I saw a Z fold card on Pinterest and decided that it would be a great fold to try.  When I looked at the card closed I imagined layers and since I wanted to recognize someone from church that is really trying to “lift me up” I reached for the Lifting Spirits stamps.  I fell in love with this little Red Baron airplane (notice it’s blue and purple, LOL!) and our town is full of Hot Air Balloons so I knew it had to be added to my collection.  I added some thin 3D Foam Tape to the back of the banner and I used the regular Foam Tape on the Hot Air Balloon.  The clouds are stamped in glacier, but everything else was colored with the Shin Han markers.

I hope you’ve enjoyed stopping by today and will come back again soon.  I’m heading back to the craft room to work on Challenges for the week!

A Little Mojo for LOVE!

I’m not sure what overcame me this weekend, but I felt a little more than crazed about making cards.  I got an e-mail from a customer that she had made 5 box cards…woohoo, shout out to her creativity and my Cricut abilities!!! Not to be outdone I sat down at my desk and made 8 cards – 2 thinking of you’s and 6 Valentines!

I thought about sharing them all at one time, but what fun is that???  So you’ll have to keep coming back this week to see what I created…where to start, where to start?

I have two friends that are struggling with hard times, OK, truthfully there are probably more, but these two hit my heart and I decided I wanted to brighten their day a bit.  We all suffer from gray skies now and then and sometimes it’s just good to know that someone cares.

I felt like I was getting back to my roots of stamping with the simplicity of these cards…stamped in black and then colored with the amazing ShinHan markers.  I haven’t learned everything I can about these markers, but I can tell you that I love how the color flows.

I’ve had Angel Friends B1435 for a while, but just hadn’t got it inky…I know it’s going to get a lot of use now!  You can’t tell from this picture, but the flowers are popped up with our Thin 3-D Foam Tape (LOVE that stuff).  The Fundamentals paper in the back reminded me of clouds, but it only peeks through subtly.

DSCN1786My maternal grandmother always told me that beauty is only skin deep, but that doesn’t have to be so with your cards.  Make sure to give them a little pop of color – you’re sentiment gets lonely in there all alone!

This cute airplane is from the Lifting Spirits set.  I kept things simple by using the  Chevron Border punch and a couple of gold sequins.  This stamp set is one of my favorites as it has both an airplane and hot air balloon, both of which you see regularly in my hometown!
