Just the Basics & Bashful

When I registered for the Close to My Heart Convention this year I also signed up for the Consultant Showcase.  I was provided a 3 foot X 18 inch space in which I could display anything I wanted.

I decided that I wanted to keep my display to cards and picked to use the Basic Fundamentals & Bashful (2017-18 Color of the Year).

I was really excited about my cards, but not so excited to put them on display.  I am very blessed to have a dear friend that is also a consultant that promised to stay with me – she was my human security blanket 🙂

The night started off with a bang – there was a Sticky Boy right above my display that neither one of us saw.  I had a great time interacting with other consultants and realized that I can’t wait to do this again.  Fears are meant to be conquered, right!

I have my cards listed for sale on my Facebook page through 7/16 in hopes to earn some money to help Operation Smile.  I hope you’ll pop over there and consider bidding.

Owl Always Love You

Did you pick up the Share A Smile Card Kit?  I loved the Punny Pals stamp set when it was released, but adding Thin Cuts took my love over the top.

I’m trying to share some new techniques in my Just the Basics card class and this background was a fun one.  I inked an acrylic block directly with my Glacier Ink pad and then spritzed it with water from my Spray Pen and applied it directly to my square of paper.  The fun thing about this technique is you won’t get the same results twice.  I then stamped my sentiment in Memento Black Ink and popped up the owl which I water-colored.

This is such an easy technique and you can also use multiple colors on your block just make sure to use your lightest color first.  You can also use your die-based markers for an additional look.

Thanks for stopping by I hope you’ll give this fun technique a try.

Punny Pals Steal the Spotlight

I didn’t think the Punny Pals stamp set could get any cuter, but with the new matching thin cuts in the October Share A Smile card they are 13 times cuter!  That’s one thin cut for each cute little critter!

My card is 4X4 and I first cut a circle before running it through the Alphabet Embossing folder.  I added a piece of B&T behind the circle cut out and then popped up the front panel with 3D Foam tape.  I added my die cut and colored animals with some Thin 3D Foam tape.  I think this would make a perfect baby card, birthday card or just a happy hello to share a smile.

Don’t miss out on the Share a Smile card kit…it’s just $39.95 while supplies last.

Thanks for stopping by!

Share a Smile

I am so proud to be associated with a company that supports the lives of children through their partnership with Operation Smile and I’m extremely excited about the October Share a Smile campaign.

First of all, as if the exclusive Punny Pals stamp set was not cute enough on it’s own – the fact that $7 from the sale of each stamp set is donated to Operation Smile makes it just that much cuter and NOW during the month of October or while supplies last you can also get a set of Thin Cuts that will cut out these adorable animals.  Even better there is an exclusive card kit available that includes the Thin Cuts, Card Bases and Envelopes, Paper Pieces and instructions on how to make the adorable cards.

I spent some time in the Craft Coop yesterday to make my October birthday cards (my stash has depleted itself, but I have high hopes of correcting that situation).  I have a stack of retired paper packets that I’m trying to work myself through and I thought the bold red polka dot matched with Honey made for a happy card.  I can’t wait to get my hands on those Thin Cuts because that little puppy popped up would be just adorable!

If you’d like to learn more about the Punny Pals stamp set or the Share a Smile October special please leave me a comment and I’ll be sure to get in touch with you.

There’s a New Gang in Town

Close to My Heart released a brand new stamp set for Operation Smile on August 1st…Punny Pals has already earned a permanent home on my desk for lots of card making fun.

This set of thirteen animals and their 23 punny sentiments are cute enough on their own, but Close to My Heart’s $7 donation to Operation Smile for the sale of every stamp set makes it sweeter.

There is an entire section on my webpage dedicated to Operation Smile where your purchase will include a donation to a non-profit organization that provides surgeries to repair cleft lips and palates for children around the World.

Punny Pals would make a terrific gift for anyone on your list – whether they are a card maker or just wanted to add a little smile to the outside of an envelope.  Pair Punny Pals with our Stamping Starter Kit and you have a great Back to School Gift for your child’s teacher.  When you place your order you can also “round up” with a donation to Operation Smile.  Won’t you join me in supporting this cause.

#True Love

If you are familiar with social media – you know that hashtags are a big deal, so I couldn’t resist using the #true love sentiment on this cute 4X4 card perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Hashtag
noun
  1.  (on social media sites such as Twitter) a word or phrase preceded by a hash or pound sign (#) and used to identify messages on a specific topic.

There is no doubt that I have fallen in love with the True Love Operation Smile stamp set.  If you have not added this set to your collection, I really encourage you to – not just because it’s adorable, but because it benefits Operation Smile.  Close To My Heart is donating seven dollars from the purchase of each True Love stamp set to Operation Smile.

I chose to start with a base of Raspberry which I embossed with the heart embossing folder (now retired) layered a piece of black cardstock and the image stamped on white daisy which I colored in with my ShinHan markers.  I then stamped a scrap of white daisy with raspberry ink and used the new circle thin-cuts to cut it.  I sponged the edges and popped it up with some 3D foam tape.  Cute Valentine complete in less time than it took for you to read my blog today!

Since August 1st, 2016 – YOU, my customers have donated over $130 to help change the life of a child in personal donations and the purchase of this stamp set.  I’ve decided to sweeten the pot a little further.  When you purchase the True Love stamp set through my website from today thru February 13th I will match that $7 donation to Operation Smile.  For as little as $240 you can provide a life changing smile in the life of a child.

Have a Happy Day – Color Dare #225

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  I hope that you all had a fabulous holiday and are ready to start creating with us again.  This week we are featuring  the colors:  Colonial White, Cashmere, Champagne, Fern and Pomegranate.

img_4661

I reached for the Operation Smile special stamp set, True Love to complete this card challenge.  If you don’t have this stamp set – you really need to purchase it!  Close to My Heart donates $7 of the purchase price of the True Love stamp set to Operation Smile.  Put a smile on your face when you help change a life of a child.

My card base is Champagne cardstock layered with Fern Fundamentals and then a base of Pomegranate cardstock holds the image.  The sentiment was stamped in Cashmere ink.  My little guy was stamped in Memento ink and then colored with ShinHan Touch Twin Markers (I used the marker chart provided by Close to My Heart to match the colors).  If you haven’t used our ShinHan markers I suggest watching this video.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

No automatic alt text available.

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

Remember you don’t have to have a blog to participate in the Color Dare, you can link up by using Pinterest or our Facebook Page.

octlovebadge

Welcome to our Operation Smile Blog Hop!  We are featuring the True Love stamp set, a special set of 9 stamps.  When you purchase the True Love Stamp set $7.00 of your purchase is donated to Operation Smile by Close to My Heart.  If you have come here from Gina’s Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants here.

This stamp set can be used for so many occasions and combined with our other stamps it seems as though it has endless possibilities.  For this card I stamped the hugs and kisses (XOXO) stamp repeatedly to form my own B&T in Pixie and Glacier.  I then layered two different patterns of B&T on a small square of Pixie CS, I stamped my favorite saying and popped it up along with the girl holding the heart which I colored with my Shin Han markers.
