Hello Life

I enjoyed playing with the National Stamping Month Cardmaking Hello Life stamp and some of the new paper fundamentals last night.

Love that the combination paired perfectly with a pattern from Make It From Your Heart to put together a fun card to brighten someone’s mail box!

Paper Garden – September SOTM

Welcome to our Stamp of the Month Blog Hop, we are featuring September’s Stamp of the Month Paper Garden a set of ten elegant floral stamps.  If you have come here from Jen’s blog you are on the right path!  The blog hop is a great big circle so even if your starting here you’ll work your way around by clicking the links at the end of the post.

This month there are over 40 Close to My Heart Consultant’s sharing their art, what are we waiting for let’s get started!

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with this set.  I was very attracted to the floral images, but a little intimidated too.  I saw this card fold and thought it would make a great focus for the floral image.  It was super easy to make!

  • Card Base: 4-1/4″ x 7-1/4″ and 2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ (bottom piece).  Score the larger piece at 5-1/2″.
  • B & T: 1-3/4″ x 4″ and 2-1/4″ x 4″ (I used two different colors of the Enchantment Paper Fundamentals)
  • Inside of the card: 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Front panel: 2-1/4″ x 3 -3/4″(same color as the card base), 2″ x 3-1/2″(same as the inside of the card)
  1. Attach the B & T to the top and bottom pieces.
  2. Stamp on the 2″ x 3-1/2″ piece.  Layer on the 2-1/4″ x 3-3/4″ piece.
  3. Position the bottom piece (2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″) on the card base.  Take care to line up the edges. I used Thin 3D Foam Tape on the 4 corners of the stamped piece and attach it to the top of the card and the bottom.  This is what holds the card together.
  4. I put light pencil lines where my sentiment would fit and stamped so that area would be seen with the card closed.

Now hop on over to Jen Rubio’s blog (yes, I’m the filling in the Jen oreo this month on the blog hop) to see her artwork.  Be sure to visit all the consultants blogs to get some great crafting inspiration!  Remember the September Stamp of the Month is only available until September 30th – so order yours today!!!

September $5.00 Card Class – Sign Up NOW!

September is quickly approaching which means there’s a Card Class right around the corner!  September 4th to be exact – 10am or 6:30pm.  I’ve had lots of people ask me about my card classes so I thought I’d share a little about what to expect.

September Card Class

What do we do?  We have fun – laughter has been heard coming from the craft room (especially during the morning class).  You will go home with three completed cards ready to go in the mail or be added to your stash!

What is expected of me as a student?  Be prepared with your basic stamping kit (don’t have one let’s get it ordered).  Be on time and ready to create.  Leave your options open, flip the paper, flip the card…let your creativity flow.  Most importantly have fun!!!

What you can expect from me?  I will welcome you whether you are a beginner or experienced stamper, I enthusiastically share my love of papercrafting (most of the time).  For a $5.00 fee you will receive a packet of precut papers and embellishments to complete your cards.  The inks and stamps we use for the cards will be shared among participants. You will receive instruction and help as needed.  You are encouraged to let your own creative talent take over.

When does all this happen?  Normally there is a monthly $5.00 Card Class held the first Thursday of the month (I ask you to keep a flexible schedule just in case it needs to be changed).  There will also be special card classes offered at other times of the month.  Join the Royal Court (follow my blog) to keep informed of up to date card classes.  You can also “like” my Facebook Page – papercrafting princess.

Do you still have questions?  Leave me a comment and lets get them answered!

The Long and Short of It

Hello!  Do you remember me?  I’m back from the Close to My Heart Convention at Disneyland and have tons of mojo, I’ve also got a ton of laundry so I’m finding little bits and pieces of time to create before I have to move the loads (never mind about the folding, tee hee)

Have you heard about Jump on it July?  With a qualifying purchase you can get either the July stamp of the month for FREE or any one of the Hostess Rewards sets from Annual Inspirations or Seasonal Expressions 2 for just $5.00.

I couldn’t pass up playing with the Cuddly Salutaions stamp set just one more time.  The cute line drawn animals and speech bubbles are just perfect for coloring in with the ShinHan markers.  Instead of using B&T I chose to use the Basics Paper Fundamentals for a gradient monochromatic look.

Make sure you take a minute to visit my webpage where you can join my mystery hostess party and shop for any supplies you might need or just add a cute new stamp set to your collection.

Birthdays Galore

What happens when an only child marries a man with 6 siblings?  Your birthday list multiples to sometimes what seems an unmanageable amount.

When I turned the calendar to June and noticed that there are 8 birthdays to celebrate I nearly ran back to bed and pulled the covers over my head, instead I headed to the craft room and started thinking about the 8 people (6 of which are male) celebrating their special days.

I pulled out my Wishes Book for these first two cards. The Robot is from a retired CTMH set.  I started with using a panel of Slate Fundamentals and layered a strip of Arrow Washi Tape white cardstock then layered on Crystal Blue C/S under the white panel stamped with the Robot which I colored with the Shin Han Markers.  I don’t ever give much thought to my coloring I just grab what I’m in the mood for and somehow it just comes together.

I love the little monsters in the Love Ya Silly stamp set.  If I can find a reason to use them I take advantage of it and since I’m making “male” birthday cards my collection of flowers and frilliness just didn’t fly.  I took some extra time with the Confetti Wishes B&T to make sure that I got a full row of candles and the words celebrate.

My last card is actually my favorite of this bunch.  It’s for a great nephew who’s at just the right age (I hope) to like airplanes.  I know I’ve seen him carrying cars and trains around.  The layer of Washi Tape along the bottom reminds me of clouds.  I popped up the banner with 3D foam tape to give the card a little dimension.

I’m glad that my husband had a rule before we married of not attending all those birthday parties and it’s my choice to do the cards, it’s done out of love and the hopes of receiving a few birthday cards of my own when my birthday rolls around in August.  Now it’s time to get back to the craft room!

Last of the Love

These are the last two cards from my weekend card making frenzy…I’m still finding a little time to craft, but figured it was time to move onto something besides Valentines.

Don’t you just love the Love Ya Silly monsters?  I can see lots of uses for this set.  I stamped the monsters in the different colors of the Heartstrings Paper.  Have you seen the “Puffies”…self adhesive, puffy stickers, the bow and heart are both from the Stuck on You collection.  Super cute!!!

The second card was inspired by a card on page 13 of Seasonal Expressions 1.  I just love that the Doodled Designs stamp is good for the front or inside of a card.  Sometimes Simple Love is all you have to give.

Thanks for stopping by…I hope you’ve had a chance to get inspired to spread some love with a home made card.

A Little Mojo for LOVE!

I’m not sure what overcame me this weekend, but I felt a little more than crazed about making cards.  I got an e-mail from a customer that she had made 5 box cards…woohoo, shout out to her creativity and my Cricut abilities!!! Not to be outdone I sat down at my desk and made 8 cards – 2 thinking of you’s and 6 Valentines!

I thought about sharing them all at one time, but what fun is that???  So you’ll have to keep coming back this week to see what I created…where to start, where to start?

I have two friends that are struggling with hard times, OK, truthfully there are probably more, but these two hit my heart and I decided I wanted to brighten their day a bit.  We all suffer from gray skies now and then and sometimes it’s just good to know that someone cares.

I felt like I was getting back to my roots of stamping with the simplicity of these cards…stamped in black and then colored with the amazing ShinHan markers.  I haven’t learned everything I can about these markers, but I can tell you that I love how the color flows.

I’ve had Angel Friends B1435 for a while, but just hadn’t got it inky…I know it’s going to get a lot of use now!  You can’t tell from this picture, but the flowers are popped up with our Thin 3-D Foam Tape (LOVE that stuff).  The Fundamentals paper in the back reminded me of clouds, but it only peeks through subtly.

DSCN1786My maternal grandmother always told me that beauty is only skin deep, but that doesn’t have to be so with your cards.  Make sure to give them a little pop of color – you’re sentiment gets lonely in there all alone!

This cute airplane is from the Lifting Spirits set.  I kept things simple by using the  Chevron Border punch and a couple of gold sequins.  This stamp set is one of my favorites as it has both an airplane and hot air balloon, both of which you see regularly in my hometown!

Here we go!

I LOVE this stamp set…I’ve used it for scrapbooking and card making!

I had two ideas running around in my head…my first card was inspired by this one I saw on Pinterest.

I started by running the Kraft Cardstock through the Big Shot with the new Arrow Embossing Folder I then cut my circles and heart from the Retired Free to Be Me B & T (gotta use up this stash that’s out of control).  I then stamped the bomb and colored it in with Shinhan markers.  I used the thin foam tape to pop up both the heart and the sentiment.

For my second card I wanted something completely different.  This is a small card just 3 X 4.75.  I started by stamping all of the words randomly in Whisper Ink on a 3 X 3 piece of White Daisy cardstock which I then layered onto a piece of Slate from the Basics Paper Fundamentals.  I had a scrap of Lagoon cardstock close at hand so I decided it would be my accent color (I think I want a wall this color),  I haven’t used the Cuddly Salutations Stamp set much, but thought the cute bird with the thanks bubble would be a fun addition.  I used thin 3D Foam Tape just under the bubble to get a little dimension.

DSCN1765For the inside I started by just stamping the sentiment, but it looked too plain so I cut a quick circle from the cricut and stamped YOU’RE in Slate Ink and placed a little flag under it cut from the last of my lagoon scrap.

You can also see some of my additional artwork here and here.

Pretty Pixie Petals

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop! For this hop we will be featuring the letter P.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their P element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda’s blog ~ Scrappy Therapy

If you came from Catherine’s Catscrapbooking then you’re on the right track!

I decided that I would use Pixie a brand new member of the Whimsy family for my letter P.

I was inspired while hopping along the Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month Hop for August when I hopped across to Shirley Ross’s Mom ‘n me Scrap Blog – you can find my inspiration card by clicking on her blog name.  The cute petals are actually the “wings” for the owl in the Give A Hoot stamp set.

You’ll notice that this time I made two cards and it was to show the new Whimsy Assortment Paper Fundamentals.  The Paper Fundamentals have been around awhile in the “Basic” color pallet, but three new assortments were added with the new Annual Inspirations.  Paper Fundamentals are double sided 12 X 12 sheets with the same design on both sides – one side has a glossy pattern.  It is very hard to tell in the pictures and I even had to point out the difference to my husband.

Your next stop on our Everything ABC’S blog Hop is Jenny Gilbert” of  Jen’s Creative Classroom.

In case you get lost along the way…go to Scrappy Therapy  for a complete list of participants!

Thanks again for stopping by!
