Penelope PML Cards

Wondering what to do with those 2 sheets of Picture My Life cards that now come in the Paper Packs?  They can be used on traditional layouts, are perfect for pocket scrapbooking and as I’ve used here…CARDS!

PML Penelope

With a few extra pieces of paper, a few complements, some Playful Puffies and Silver Sequins in no time I had 4 bright cheerful cards.

I love that these cards are in both portrait and landscape orientation.

I can’t wait to see what you do with the Picture My Life Cards.

Another Side of Me

This is the side of me that you don’t see very often.  Behind the paper, ink and stamps and piles of photos to be scrapbooked I’m a farm girl.  I wasn’t born this way or raised this way – I thought I was a city girl through and through.

God had different plans for me.  In 2008, I met the most kind, generous, loving man and he moved me from my custom built 3 bedroom house in an upper middle class neighborhood across the state of Washington to Snohomish and that is where the adventure begins.

I wasn’t totally inexperienced, my paternal grandparents had an orchard in Eastern Washington, but my adult years had been spent in the financial world.  Wearing dresses and suits, belonging to committees and organizations was what I was comfortable with.

He bought me a pair of boots for our first Christmas together, not shiny black ones with a high heel and pointy toes, but they were pink – ok tan and pink – and they are so comfortable!

In the spring of 2009 he brought home two calves, I immediately named them Thelma and Louise and in 2011 they had their first calves.  After realizing that his “city girl” wife was not going to allow anything to be butchered we downsized our herd of six by that time to one.

Last night at 11:28 Thelma gave birth to her fifth calf…a bull named Tuffy (T3).  It still amazes and excites me.

I love my life as a farm chick and I love being treated like a princess by my Prince Charming.

I thank God everyday that he brought me back to my roots…there’s nothing better than a new baby calf to make you thankful for the life you lead.

Nearing the End…maybe

Skylark is by far one of my favorite paper packets of all time – OK, right up until Annual Inspirations comes out August 1st.  As you know from previous posts I’m trying to use up my stash and I have a bag full of Skylark scraps.  I also have some PML (Picture My Life Cards) that I haven’t begun to make a dent in.  I’m not really into the pocket scrapbooking, but I wanted to see what other uses I could find for them and realize that they work pretty darn good on cards.

The sunshine is back in the PNW after several days of rain, but I had a hard time capturing the colors on these cards.  Lagoon is one of my favorite colors and I reach for it over and over, I have even managed with the Skylark papers to become fond of Juniper which had never ranked too high on my list.

Besides my bag of scraps, I have a whole untouched bag of Skylark paper – shhhh, don’t tell my husband.  I’m waiting for just the right occasion to make some scrapbook pages, too!  Skylark is one of the retiring paper packets so make sure you place an order for it before July 31st and remember if you place an order on my website before July 31st you’ll be entered to win $25 in free Close to My Heart product.

Leave me a message with your all time favorite paper packet and Close to My Heart color combo and you’ll be entered to win a  selection of PML Skylark cards for your creative uses.

A New Picture My Life

I have had a package of Skylark Picture My Life Cards staring at me from a corner of my desk for months.  I haven’t got into the pocket scrapbooking craze so I was looking for another way to use them.  It’s been hot here this week (OK, not Texas hot) and I would much rather be inside in front of a fan.  I decided that maybe it was time to pull out those cards and do something with them.

So, here’s what I came up with.

Yesterday while I was hiding in the house I decided to waste spend some quality time on Pinterest.  I decided to do a search for Card Sketches and ended up creating a new board – boy do I like hot weather!  I found this great sketch my Julie Tilman and today I created a card with the PML cards and the scraps I had left from my Skylark paper packet.

There is no stamping on this card…I layered some paper on a base of Kraft cardstock positioned the PML card.  The dragonfly is cut from the Skylark paper,  I just centered my Cricut and it cut a 1.5 inch circle perfectly.  See the piece of chevron paper – it’s the zip strip from another paper in the packet.  I simply embellished it with two clear sparkles because “a little bling never hurt anything”.  I LOVE how this turned out and have already started sorting my cards for some additional cards.

The second project is just a fun little journal.  I’m still learning how to use my binding machine so it didn’t turn out exactly how I wanted, but it’s pretty cute none-the-less.  The PML cards are all double sided so I just had to pick out which ones I wanted to use and magically I was done.

I can’t wait to play with more Picture My Life Cards!

What would you do with them?

Stay cool!
