Not Just for Holidays

Don’t think of your holiday themed papers and stamp sets just for the holidays! I needed several thank you cards for people that helped with our recent Pumpkin Carving Party so I reached for my Spooktacular Paper and Stamps.

You might be wondering where I got the cute little sentiments to go in the speech bubble – it’s from the Card Subscription Box. If you want quick cards on the go – this kit is for you. Close to My Heart has designed some really fun cards for this set and the stamp set is FULL of fun sentiments to use on other cards.

I still wanted my cards to have a bit of a Halloween theme so I used the stamps, however other than the middle card there is not much Halloween going on in the papers.

I challenge you to take a look at your holiday stash and see how it might be used for something that’s not holiday!

Thanks for stopping by.

Solo Sale

I’m sure you’ve heard the news that July is Stampaganza at Close to My Heart…buy two stamp sets get the third for free and that the SOLO Alphabet & Numbers stamp sets have been brought out of retirement for this special sale.

Solos Alphabet Bundle (CC7181)        Numbers Solos Bundles (CC7182)

These stamps have long been a favorite and I’ve kicked myself time and time again that I didn’t buy the entire set when it was available.  You can be sure I’m not going to let that opportunity pass me by this time.  Each letter has a large bold and small sized lower case along with coordinating words that start with that letter and some fun shapes to play with too.  Each number features both a large bold and small sized number along with the number in word form and words and images to match.

I gave some new life to the Solo T today pairing it with the soft colors from Central park.  Don’t you just love that pop of Willow combined with the soft colors of Bashful & Glacier?  This is one of my favorite patterns from Make It From Your Heart Volume 4, but I added a stitched circle & a banner to dress it up.  A few sparkles adorn the letter to finish off the card.

The Solo stamps are perfect for both card making and scrapbooking – how cute would a baby album featuring month by month pictures be or even a big bold letter with someone’s name next to their picture.

Both the Solos Alphabet and Solo Numbers are available in a money saving bundle of 40% OFF the retail price, but they are only available through the month of July so make sure to get yours ordered today from my web-page

Kindness – Color Dare #296

Already one week into June…time needs to S-L-O-W down!

This week the Color My Heart Color Dare Design Team is featuring the colors Toffee, Juniper and Pomegranate.  Such pretty colors to work with.

I’m trying to build my stash of thank you and birthday cards, but it seems like it’s a never ending battle!  Like I said last week I really like the In My Heart card making kit sentiments so here I am again with a different layout.  The wood panel at the bottom of the card might be a far stretch at Toffee, but I just had to use it.  I also stamped the small THANKS banner in Toffee and cut it out and layered it over a piece of wood-grain banner which I stamped in Juniper and then trimmed.  I tied a little bit of Juniper Thick Twine into a knot and frayed the ends to add some dimension.

Now it’s your turn to come play along.  You’ll find the rules for the Color Dare here.  When you visit our home page – make sure you visit each of the Design Teams pages and leave them a comment.  We each work hard to bring you lots of inspiration each week and it’s nice to get some “love”.

Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Amigos!

Have you visited the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge yet?  I’m Guest Designing for the month of September so I’m here to hound you again!  Get linked up people!!!

The Falling for You papers are so fun to work with now that the weather has turned a bit chilly – everything feels like leaves and pumpkins!

Seaglass was a tough act to follow but Close to My Heart’s Color of the Year Bashful has taken a front row on my craft desk.  I’ve actually got tired of hopping up and getting it so I gave it along with the matching glitter paper a place of it’s own.

If you order during the month of September it’s likely you’ll find this card in your bag (or mailbox if you order directly from my webpage.)  It’s one of my favorite sizes 4.75 X 3 –  I can get 4 out of one sheet of cardstock.  That rich yummy brown is Espresso one of the new additions to our recently redesigned basics palette.  It’s difficult to see in the photo, but the arrow under the sentiment is stamped in Bashful – both of these stamps are from the September Stamp of the Month Feel So Blessed.

Do you like little cards?  Leave me a comment and I’ll drop a card in the mail to you.  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and make sure you visit the Three Amigos Blog Hop.

Fall – Color Dare # 259

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Emerald, Pansy, Gold Rush, Black, White and optional Gold

No automatic alt text available.

I kept thinking how this would be a great FALL kickoff color dare.  I also wanted to highlight Close to My Hearts new 2-sided cardstock.

I tried to stick with the CAS look for this card – I started with layering my white panel (just 1/8th of an inch smaller) on a black card base.  The white card was stamped with the ink blot stamp set and then I layered leaves from the Artiste Cricut cartridge.  The leaves are cut out of Emerald, Goldrush and Pansy – the reverse side is a bit lighter so it really shows the texture when layering leaves and flowers without having to use multiple colors of cardstock.  The sentiment stamped in black is from the All the Thanks Stamp set.  I finished the card with a few Gold Glitter Gems.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  We have made a slight change to our Color Dare rules and each challenge will now be open for two weeks – so you have until September 14th to create for this challenge.  We’re hoping this extension will give more people time to create and submit entries.  There will still be a new Color Dare each Friday – they will just overlap.  Make sure you get your artwork submitted as soon as you can and linked up to the correct challenge.

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

You Might Have Missed Me

Life is busy!  I failed miserably for this weeks Color My Heart Color Dare.  As of yesterday I still had all my Gold and Yellow embellishments spread all over the table in the Craft Coop.  Perhaps it was too messy to be creative…I fixed that!

Color Dare #207 is to use Saffron, Canary, White Daisy & Gold.  As I sifted through my piles I discovered an entire pack of this special paper just begging to be used.  I pulled out a sheet of the yellow floral and I wondered what I could pair with it and then it hit me…it was like flowers being thrown to a ballerina which brought out my Safari Ballet stamp set once again.  I’m pretty sure this is my most used stamp set.

It’s hard to see in the picture, but the ballerina’s tutu is cut from a piece of vellum embossed with gold dots and the bow on the tail is gold glitter paper.  I’m in need of some thank you cards so this one is already heading off in the mail.

Have you made time to create your Color My Heart Color Dare card this week?  I hope you have because it just makes life all better when you get to spend some time crafting.

Thanks for stopping by…see you Friday!

It’s Magical – Color Dare 201

Hi and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring colors from the Magical Papers – Black, Cranberry, Crystal Blue, Honey, Sapphire, Whisper and White Daisy.

If you know me well, or maybe even a little bit, you know that I am a Disney fanatic.  I don’t think he’ll ever admit it, but I think a little bit of the bug may have bitten my Wrangler wearing sweetheart!  Playing with these colors was not hard for me…deciding what I wanted to feature on my blog was!

I finally settled on this Thank You card that we’re creating at my Card Class this month.  The Magical Papers are so much fun to play with.  If I had to pick a favorite it would be a three way tie between the multi-colored hearts, the bold cranberry polka dots (it’s so Minnie) and the black camera’s which I didn’t use on this card.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

Pinterest Fun

My plans for today were all fouled up by the County Roads Department deciding to do some road closures, no one asked me what I had planned for today before they planned this closure and then their website didn’t provide accurate closure info.

So, my regularly scheduled Card Workshop has been postponed until next week (Thursday, June 11th if you’d like to come) and since I figured my neighbor and I were going to be somewhat “homebound” I told her to come on over and play.  She plays well in the sandbox – she brought Oreo S’mores Limited Edition Cookies.

We both love cards that have fun folds so we took to Pinterest for a couple of cards that we’d like to try.  Both cards were super easy and came with Video Instructions. I had made the Flap Fold Card before so we only watched the video long enough to get the measurements.

The second card was called a Fun Flap card and other than having some issues with getting the bird lined up in the right place with the die I think they turned out very nicely.  We both decided that we liked the embossing on the flap more than a plain flap as was shown in the video.

If you’d like to join me for an afternoon of crafting…drop me a comment and we’ll make it a date!  I normally hold classes the first Thursday of every month – June is turning out to be a little wonky!  Thanks for taking time to look at our cards.

Lifting My Spirits

Some of you may know that there was a new addition to our house last August…she’s my craftin’ buddy, cookie baking, homework helping, hair pulling out, chaos causing adorable granddaughter.  Some of you know her as Miss B others as Brooke.  I told my husband that I’ve created a monster and I’m pretty sure that her dad doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into when she comes to live with him, but she’s leaving us soon and I’ve had a terrific group of friends trying to lift my spirits.

Lifting Spirits Z Card

I saw a Z fold card on Pinterest and decided that it would be a great fold to try.  When I looked at the card closed I imagined layers and since I wanted to recognize someone from church that is really trying to “lift me up” I reached for the Lifting Spirits stamps.  I fell in love with this little Red Baron airplane (notice it’s blue and purple, LOL!) and our town is full of Hot Air Balloons so I knew it had to be added to my collection.  I added some thin 3D Foam Tape to the back of the banner and I used the regular Foam Tape on the Hot Air Balloon.  The clouds are stamped in glacier, but everything else was colored with the Shin Han markers.

I hope you’ve enjoyed stopping by today and will come back again soon.  I’m heading back to the craft room to work on Challenges for the week!
